Sunday Mutterings

2022 Silver Valley Tournament Champions.

Sandpoint Bulldogs

~~~~
It's been quite a basketball weekend for Bulldog teams and even more is on the menu today.
Three games in three days, one championship trophy, one promised stop for froyo and then maybe some sleep after a rigorous schedule.
Willie's Sandpoint Bulldogs girls team covered the miles and the baskets while playing in the Silver Valley Tournament Friday and Saturday.
After playing a spirited and scrappy season opener at home with the Lake City Timberwolves, the Bulldogs went on the road two days in a row to play in the Kellogg Tournament.
Twas truly worth the time, the effort and the miles as they brought home a trophy after earning two wins for the tournament championship.
The three-game effort leaves the Bulldogs at 2-1 for their early season record.
According to this morning's story in the Daily Bee, Willie told them if they won yesterday, they'd stop on the way home for frozen yogurt.
The girls took him at his word and did their part.
Congratulations, Sandpoint Bulldogs.
Yesterday afternoon and early evening Bill and I kept track of the Gonzaga Women's basketball game at the Battle for Atlantis Tournament in The Bahamas.
What a game that turned out to be!  Both teams were undefeated.  Gonzaga's opponent, Louisville, was ranked 6th in NCAA women's basketball.
Maybe not anymore.
The Bulldogs maintained their lead throughout the game.  Then, Louisville caught up and tied, leading to an overtime.
Gonzaga dominated the extra play and came out on top, stunning the Louisville Cardinals and notching the biggest win against a ranked opponent in history.
So, today, they play for their tournament championship, taking on Marquette at 11:30 PST.
Lady ZAGS are now 4-0.
Later, today, we of the ZAGnation are hoping our Bulldogs get their act together when they play Kentucky at the Spokane Arena.
Tip-off is at 4:30 PST, and the game will be telecast on ESPN.
Hoping for a big rebound after the ZAG loss earlier this week to Texas.
GO, ZAGS!!!
It's a layover on her latest adventure, which will take her to Rome for the night and then-----
You'll find out tomorrow, and there may even be pictures.
Meanwhile, here at the Lovestead, it's another cold, crisp and gorgeous morning. Bill worked in the woods yesterday afternoon while I baked some more pies.
I love that new crust recipe. It's the real deal.
And, the pie is pretty good too. Last night we sampled huckleberry-raspberry pie.
Guess that's enough for today with more basketball on the mind.
Happy Sunday.
