"Seens of 2022," Part One

2022: a Year of Re-entry

First, the photos represent some highlights of the first half of 2022 for me.

Tomorrow I'll post images from the second half of this year.

I invite you to click on the You Tube below before scrolling through this post.  Kinda fun.

My camera/iPhone travel with me just about every time I go out the door.

So, what you are seeing today might make up about five percent of the photos I took during the first part of this year.

Still, they tell the story of what I saw, experienced and appreciated in my travels, even scenes just a few feet from the house.

We re-entered the world around us in 2022.

Some of us did so gradually and cautiously while others plunged in at the first opportunity.

Some of us, even those who were relatively careful, caught Covid.

Happily, in our family's cases, the symptoms were mild, thanks to vaccines and remaining cautious.

Re-entry felt awkward to many of us as we took baby steps back into society and while deciding whether or not to mask up.

I noticed, while scrolling through hundreds of photos last night, that my photography pursuits in 2022 included significantly fewer photos of people from past years.

Looks like I spent the majority of my time focusing on the natural beauty around us where life is simple and unpopulated, 'cept for some wonderful species of animals and birds.

Like every year, even the year that Charles Dickens chronicled, it was the best of years; it was the worst of years.

We saw the worst of humanity far too often, but we celebrated so many times as we observed the best of humanity.

Nice to witness a balance, which is important in any pursuit.

We lost wonderful people who played significant roles in our day-to-day lives.

We played.

We worked.

We complained---in my case, lots of aches and pains in a 75-year-old body that refuses to go along with the its administrator.

We laughed.

We cried.

We remembered.

We traveled again.

We celebrated.

We beheld the beauty of the world around us.

We returned to some long-held annual traditions.

We reconnected with friends and family, many of whom we had not seen in a couple of years.

I don't think we ever got back to normal.

And, that is good, for it is adapting to change that keeps us on our toes.

As every year has been, should be and will be, 2022 was like no other.

Enjoy the photos. They are somewhat chronological.

Happy Friday.
