Gonzaga men's team winning the WCC Tournament in fine style.

All creatures great and small here at the Lovestead enjoyed the day yesterday.

And, today is looking like another winner.

My walk down the lane with Bridie this morning felt magical with the big moon in a still dark western sky, offset by the brilliant white of snow-covered mountains.

Yeah, yesterday brought on a lot of "Ahhhhhh's" as did that early morning walk.

The only disappointment of our day came when the ZAGS women lost their tournament championship to a determined team from Portland.

We rationalized the situation, though, figuring that now two women's teams from the WCC will get to go to the dance. The ZAGS had already earned their ticket by winning the league's season championship.

And, what a game for the ZAG Nation as Mark Few's Bulldogs cleaned up on St. Mary's in fine fashion.

Every person who has coached or taught for a while knows the pure satisfaction Mark Few must be feeling with this year's team.

Team chemistry does not come on a silver platter. It was obvious from the beginning that this year's ZAGS would face some challenges.

Good coaching and good teaching can make all the difference when the outlook looks less than the best.

When seemingly insurmountable challenges are overcome and pieces slowly start coming together, moving toward and achieving a common goal, the satisfaction is supreme.

What a wonderful accomplishment for the 2022-23 Gonzaga Bulldogs. And, how appropriate it was to see Drew Timme the player who's led this team as its heart and soul set the all-time scoring record for Gonzaga men's basketball.

And, now the ZAGS dance on into March Madness.

Let's hope, with all the adversity and skepticism this ZAGS team has experienced over the season, that maybe just maybe the "last dance" of the Madness has been saved just for them.
