Another Day on the Farm

Some readers may remember a few days ago when I reported that an oddly marked peacock came through the yard with a couple of turkeys.

We saw it twice but never had a camera available during its two very brief visits.

Well, when I saw another peacock land in the first pasture while walking down the lane last night to bring horses back to the barn, I did have my cell phone.

And, I took pictures.

It's hard to stop taking pictures when something this beautiful suddenly appears, spends some time visiting with the horses, wanders around the place and seems perfectly at home.

Well, our place is not this peacock's home, but it's certainly okay if it wants to come back for another visit.

Talk about spectacular color arriving on a day that's already loaded with spring color.

What a treat!

This morning I heard the bird over in the Meserve Preserve, so it's still checking out the neighborhood.

We figure the oddly colored peacock we saw the other day must be its wife.  Maybe they had an argument, and she left home and now hubby is looking for his partner.

Who knows, but it was a fun addition to the springtime busYness around here.

Today is flower-basket day.  I'll be driving to Wrenco to pick up the two baskets I ordered from Ponderay Rotary, and they'll be hanging from the deck soon after.

While I continue to put in the garden, Bill will be going once again to Round Lake to teach kids how to fly fish. He took his pontoon with him yesterday and stayed late, but he'll be home early today because, as he said, "it's riding night for me."

I'll saddle up one of the horses later this afternoon, in hopes of beating the gnat attacks.  That peacock made a strong person out of me last night because I weathered the nose, eye and ear invasions of those persistent nuisances to enjoy watching the bird.

Hopefully, they won't yet get into their evening activities while I'm riding.

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, and off in Spain Annie has been walking through some gorgeous countryside.

Hard to keep up with her as she walks and posts phenomenal pictures of what she sees while putting one foot in front of the other on her first rigorous day of walking nearly 16 miles.

BTW:  if you're not familiar with the Camino story, find a copy of "The Way" with Martin Sheen.

It's a wonderful movie, which it shows sights and typical happenings along the route that Annie took on her first Camino.

Check out today's links, and enjoy.

Yesterday's walk.

Today's walk.

Happy Wednesday.

Yes, Annie had a Border Collie sighting yesterday in Spain near the Oviedo Cathedral.
