I guess I wasn't moving quite fast enough for CB this morning while taking the horses to pasture.
So, he dragged his halter and lead into the barnyard and started getting ready himself.
CB hasn't quite mastered putting on his fly mask and halter, but he can certainly do the preparations.
I've noticed lately, in fact, most recently about five minutes before writing this post, that I've been speeding up the earthly rotations lately.
Last night, while bringing the horses back from pasture, I was thinking about my friend Marian.
"Her birthday is tomorrow," I mused to myself. "I think I'll call her and wish her a good day."
So, I did right then and there, pondering to her in the answering machine message if she was celebrating in her favorite spot in Canada or simply refusing to answer the phone because she figured I was a spammer.
There's been a lot of that lately. In fact, here's a tip if you're calling someone who still uses a landline phone.
Be sure to leave a message, or at least start leaving a message.
Twice in the past couple of weeks, five or six words into my message and suddenly someone answers.
Same thing happens at my house.
No matter how local the number looks or how familiar the said caller may seem ('cept for maybe my friend Helen and a couple of other regulars), I will NOT answer the phone.
If a message begins and I recognize the voice and the name, I'll pick up.
Anyway, back to Marian's birthday.
When I opened my blogger program this morning to start posting, I thought the date was wrong.
Did Blogger actually skip a day?
Then, I looked at the date on the lower right hand corner of my computer. July 28, it said, just like the blogger did.
Oops! July 29 is tomorrow!
Marian's gonna think I'm nuts! Well, why worry about that? She already does.
Last week, for some unknown reason, I also hurried up the calendar by one date every single day. That meant that some things got done much sooner than anticipated.
I'm not worried, though, cuz I know I'm among friends, including my husband.
Sunday night, he announced that he had to go to an eye appointment at 8 in the morning.
And, so he did.
He came home later on Monday announcing that "my eye appointment isn't until tomorrow."
A few other friends have told me that they have begun the process of strict adherence to reminders, as many reminders as possible, in fact, so that they go where they're supposed to go at the right time on the right day.
I guess such things happen 20-plus years into life when "every day is a Saturday."
The Saturdays all start looking exactly alike. Plus, we know deep within that we must have to be somewhere sometime, so we just hurry up the process to get it over with----especially stuff like doctor's appointments.
We also suffer from the inherent fear that if we don't stay on top of stuff and get ready to go soon enough, we may just forget the appointments or birthdays and then, suddenly sit up in bed in the middle of the night from a deep sleep and realize that we have forgotten to wish So and So a Happy Birthday and they're gonna hate us forever.
The dire consequences seem to always come with the middle-of-the night realizations.
As a Boy Scout, Bill learned "Be Prepared," and I guess, over the years with my teaching career and through Bill's influence, it's rubbed off on me.
Be prepared, get'er done and then you can go on to the next thing which you might forget.
All this said: Marian, if you're reading this, please disregard last night's phone call or better yet, wait until tomorrow, your real birthday and listen to it again.
You'll know I meant well IN ADVANCE.
And, for all of us, taking time to smell the flowers and admire all the outdoor beauty doesn't need a calendar for reminders.
So, do enjoy the photos.
Happy Friday, right????
