Flower Fix: Annie's Aussie Adventure

Once again I had the opportunity yesterday to enjoy a preview of the spring beauty to behold when doors open Monday, April 1 at The Flower Farm on east Selle Road.

And, that's no fooling!

John and Pam and their staff are always very gracious when welcoming me and my camera.

It was busy there yesterday as staff members were watering, picking deadheads and filling more pots with soil for more flowers.

Daniel, who's working at The Flower Farm because he figures it fits in with what he wants to do for his career as a forest ranger, told me that one day he had filled more than 1,400 pots with soil.

Pam and Akasha were quite pleased with their new variety of primroses.  They're doubles and much showier than the regular primroses.

Baskets are beginning to bloom, and the early blooming perennials were getting the color show started.

It's fun and convenient to have this wonderful facility out here in the country, so when our addiction to flowers needs a fix, we can just hop in the car and go get some more potted plants.

It's definitely a habit and a good one cuz the color brightens our moods after the dead season of winter.

So, enjoy the photos, and mark Monday on your calendar to go get your posie fix!

Pam Carlin, who owns The Flower Farm along with her hubby John.

Pam says it's their fourth year of ownership, and they're getting the hang of the business AND those beautiful baskets.

Annie's Australian Adventure--photos and text by Annie Love

Another incredible day today in Australia! Did a 4x4 geocaching tour in the mountains outside of Canberra, which included a scramble through the bush to a T5 cache.

We had amazing tour guides for the tour and had a special treat of getting to see a fire helicopter scooping up water for a nearby fire right in front of us.

Ended the day speaking on stage in front of geocachers after the Chief Minister of the Canberra Region officially opened the event and just before a snake show.

Annie with Australia's chief minister, Andrew Barr.

The chief minister sits on the Council of Capital City Lord Mayors.

The current chief minister is Andrew Barr of the Australian Labor Party (ALP), who was first elected by the Assembly on 11 December 2014 following the resignation of Katy Gallagher.

Finally, it's a BIG GAMES DAY again.
