On a Sloppy Sunday

There's a fallen angel imprint/ smashdown in the hay field this morning.

I wouldn't call myself an angel, but whenever we hit the ground on purpose, especially in the winter, we're often trying to leave a snow angel.

My imprint was unplanned, and it would be better described as a slush angel cuz soppy slush is what broke my fall rather that flaky white snow.

We're getting some wet snow out there this morning, and just enough has fallen to cover up a broken limb which landed in the field after a wind storm.

My toe caught the limb, and down I went.  Words were uttered while I actually found a quick way to get back up.

Seems those physical therapy exercises I've been doing since last summer have paid off.

No need to grab anything.  No need to roll through the slush in search of something to grab.

I simply got up and started walking, still grumbling a few cuss words and a bit wet but A-okay.

Anywho, it's kinda sloppy out there this morning but still pleasant enough temperature-wise to enjoy the morning walks.

Annie is in Ohio this weekend.  Yesterday she was treated to a tour, some swag and a game at the Columbus Blue Jackets hockey facility.

Annie's friend, a fellow geocacher, works for the Blue Jackets, so he gave her the royal treatment.

Plus, the Blue Jackets won their match against the St. Louis Blues.

Meanwhile, Willie returned last night from a road trip to Idaho Falls with the Bulldogs girls' varsity basketball team.

The Bulldogs lost all three games to some of Idaho's toughest teams, but I was proud of Willie because he is proud of his team.

They played all three games without one of their leading scorers, and they achieved some personal victories along with some great experience for the possibility of competing at State.

I'm especially proud of Willie because he is an educator as well as a coach.  Twas the learning that would happen on this trip with his young team that was most important to him.

The girls have one more away game at Lakeland on Tuesday night and then they'll finally have a string of home games, which should be fun for players and fans alike.

From today's Bonner County History notes in the Bonner County Daily Bee

 Jan. 5, 1975 – 1974 IN REVIEW

Perhaps the most obvious thing 1974 brought to Bonner County was growth, both positive and negative.

Crime and unemployment were on the rise, new homes sprang up everywhere, and the schools had to be restructured to handle a record number of children.

More and more people came to the area seeking recreation, and late in 1974, Schweitzer Basin recorded its best day ever.

In case anyone was not already convinced, 1974 proved that Bonner County is a place with a future.

Today's "Bonner County History" segment raises a fascinating discussion issue, especially considering the observations from 50 years ago.

What would be most obvious about the county in a year-end review these days?

What have the past five decades of the "future" brought to the Sandpoint area?

The good?

The bad?

The ugly?

The incredible?

It would be especially interesting to see how the history notes for "2024 in Review" published on Jan. 5, 2075, would read.

What will be most noticeable about Bonner County in 2074?

Any comments?

Lots to ponder on that issue, for sure.

Happy Sunday.

Will we still have newspapers in 2075?
