It seems like talking about beautiful days is getting a bit redundant, especially for January.
Talking about the beautiful area where we live has been redundant for decades.
Nobody seems to complain, though, especially when we can back up our words with visual proof.
Twas another beautiful day in the area yesterday.
Bill spent most of the day at a meeting in Noxon.
Since he was gone, I set aside some time for a road trip of my own. Its destination: the drift yard on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille east of Hope.
Normally, it's a beautiful spot, but, in the winter, especially without snow such areas can be a bit on the blah side for photographers.
No birds, very little vegetation and a whole lot of dry grass. With the lake level down, the area is surrounded by mud flats filled with various sizes of driftwood.
In short, the area was not quite its usual picturesque self yesterday even with the blue sky and sunshine.
That was okay, though. There were still more than enough scenic views both to and from the drift yard, including my favorite roadside waterfall on the old road leading to Hope.
The place is iced over now with our cold air, and, as mentioned before, Mother Nature's artwork is alive and well at the waterfall.
I also spent some time with my horses in the afternoon. The ground is frozen, and walking is fairly easy, so it was neat to not have wear big clod hopper boots to walk out and visit them.
Speaking of footgear, what a great winter for our feet! I have been wearing my Skechers on morning walks around the place. No need for boots with the bare ground and frozen snow. And, especially no need for Yak Trax.
Have enjoyed every step of this different kind of winter.
