What a way to start a day!
The exquisite outdoor beauty of the early dawn when a full moon is lighting up the landscape is almost indescribable.
This morning's outings came close to being jaw-dropping cuz it was so dang pretty.
It's morning's like this at the Lovestead when I wonder how there can be so much turmoil and frustration in other places.
And, I pinch myself, to be so lucky.
I also think of that "there but for the grace of God go I" saying when I consider how unfortunate so many people in the world happen to be, living lives in war zones and poverty and missing the amazing beauty that I get to see every day.
And, the especially sad part?
In many cases, it's unhappy people hungry for power and money and ego-building who often make it that way for the masses.
Seems we are witnessing such a dynamic on an hourly basis these days.
Why can't people be satisfied with the simple things in life? Often simple is the most beautiful.
I suppose I'll keep asking this question and shaking my head in utter dismay forever, but spending part of my day observing the natural beauty of this place we call home will always give me a boost and make me feel grateful.
This morning's edition of snow-covered mountains and stars and watching that full moon descending over Schweitzer while I walked over crunchy snow was especially nice.

In other news Sandpoint had a great day yesterday.
The high school girls basketball team won their first game in the district tournament which determines who gets to go to State.
It's a "best two-out-of-three" tournament.
And, the Bulldogs notched that first win by coming from behind in the fourth quarter after their star player suffered an injury.
The story in the link below tells it all.
Besides the local basketball team having a good day, a lady and her best friend shined in the Big Apple at the Westminster Dog Show.
Jennifer Wilburn and her sidekick Taz earned a Best of Breed for rat terriers distinction yesterday.
That win meant that we were able to watch them compete for the best of all the terriers last night AND it was especially neat to see "Sandpoint, Idaho" on the banner while Taz was showing.
Jennifer owns Shakapaw Pet Market on North Second Avenue near Bonner General.
Her dogs show under the name of Indigo Rat Terriers.
Congratulations to Jennifer and Taz on this impressive distinction.
Fun for you and especially fun for the dog-loving fans of Sandpoint.

This bunch showed up in late afternoon yesterday and decided to graze on my periwinkle patch.
I had not filled the bird feeder, so they must have figured that periwinkle would do for an afternoon snack.
Later, they moved on over to our row of cedars and started snipping off greenery.
I'm sure the cold weather has meant slim pickings for the deer, which usually do not hang around all winter.
We have one more crisp bluebird day ahead, and then they say it will warm up and snow.
So, I'll do my best to enjoy this last day of weather I love.
Happy Wednesday.
