Thursday This, That: TBT

Well, dang, the Mariners fell apart yesterday afternoon.  It wasn't pretty, but the good part is that they'll return home to Seattle to finish the play-offs.

I watched parts of the game until Detroit took a 5-3 lead.  Then, while going round and round in one of our pastures with the brush hog, I checked my phone and saw the Tigers' lead just keep increasing.

We'll keep our fingers crossed that home turf will and the desire to keep playing will make the difference for Seattle tomorrow.

As noted, I did some more brush hogging yesterday.  Only one small field remains, and that will get completed today.

Leaf pickup will take up a major part of the day since we're going to have rain tomorrow and some much colder weather.

So, this warmest day between now and next spring will be filled with "to do's."

Our new dryer is also coming today, just in time too, since drying clothes on the garden fence doesn't look too promising after today.

The countdown has begun for the Bonner Community Bank's 45th anniversary fundraiser.

It all happens this Saturday evening with a festive but casual event at the Bonner County Fairgrounds.

The following Sandpoint Reader article explains the need, the offerings and ways you can donate in conjunction with the event even if you can't attend.

Thanks for your generosity.

The horses are seeing some changes in their routine.

I fed them in the barn and the barnyard this morning to free up Pasture No. 1 for brush hogging.

This week they've gone from feeding on mostly grass to getting more and more hay each day.

I told them this morning that their lives are going to change dramatically one week from today when they go over to Roxane's for their winter boarding.

It's a bittersweet situation.

My knees and body started telling me a couple of years ago that winter barn chores, which included feeding them and cleaning their  box stalls, had to end.

Pulling a sled filled with hay over uneven ground or deep snow and then pushing a cart filled with droppings and shavings through similar conditions got to be too much.  In addition, when the ground heaves our sliding barn door refuses to slide.

So, life is better without those winter chores, but I still miss their companionship and their personalities.

Happily, I can go to Roxane's, which is just over a mile away, and enjoy them without so much work.

They have a wonderful place to spend the winter.

In addition, we have been able to do much more during the winter without the twice-daily concern of barn chores.

Age!

It will get to all of us eventually.

Happy Thursday.  Enjoy the TBT's below and a little Irish music to go with them.
