All in a Day

Part of why I keep doing this blog is to document life as it happens to me, my family, my friends and even people I don't know.

On this morning when something happened that we did not need, I have finally found time to document what happened yesterday.

In short, a violent wind gust blew several parts of a poplar tree right next to our house to smithereens.

We have a mess in the lawn, a hole in the roof and some damage to the ceiling of the room where I create my posts every day.

By comparison to the totality of destruction that has occurred because of these wild winds, our damage is minor in comparison.

BUT, the limb must be removed from the roof, the hole repaired and some drywall replaced. We have contacted our insurance company and are waiting to hear from an adjustor.  The insurance lady told me that we were the sixth call she had received right after the offices opened.

It's been wild and woolly, but we've been through this before in a much more dramatic fashion 41 years ago AND today is NOT Dec. 20, so we are grateful and digging into our personal patience bags.

All that said, first, that's why this post is late.  Secondly, yesterday was a day filled with faces and moments and happenings.

So, I'll document it best by sharing photos of the day.

I started the day having fun with other horse owners and veterinary professionals at Roxane's stable where it was teeth floating day.  After a shot of "happy sauce," Lily did just fine as Suzy, the tech held her head and Dr. Grace worked on her teeth.

Chelle acted as organizer, letting us know when to have our horses ready for their appointments.  Plus, she said a lot of nice things about Lily and her spots.

Stephany, pictured above, soaked us some welcome sun while waiting with her gelding.

Twas a great session.

Later, dogs and I went to Barbara and Laurie's where two tree tops had hit the ground and, happily landed where they could not damage cars, buildings or power lines.  Twas a close call for all three, and the Colburn crowd is feeling fortunate.

Bill sawed up the trees and limbs while my sisters gathered, piled and hauled.

In the evening, we went to Les Rogers Gym where we watched the Bulldog girls and boys teams play and WIN.

And, what a win it was for Willie's team.  It was an overtime thriller against West Valley.  Fans got their money's worth with both games last night.

The band played and the cheerleaders looked snappy leading the student section.

At the same time as the games, a dancing recital was occurring in the school auditorium, and one of the young dancers happily posed for me.

All in all, it was a great day filled with positive vibes and even a little sunshine.

I guess you'd call it the calm before the storm, and, with the damage done from the storm, it was a truly welcome day.

Life handed us some little lemons this morning, but when we look at the whole picture of how blessed we are with the genuine and amazing people around us, we can move on, deal with the situation and enjoy all the other blessings each day brings.

It's going to be a better day.

Happy Wednesday.

A spirit lifter on this morning's Facebook feed.

These are two beloved former students:

from Trudy Greene:  Kevin, grandma’s cookies are coming to my brothers house on Dec 24th! Would you like me to make an extra goodie tray for you and Sue? You’d have to go to Kim’s on the 24th to pick it up….you know he can’t be trusted☺️

from Kevin Dreier:  Trudy that would be wonderful. I can't tell what it means to me to be included. The cookies are great but the memories that they bring are the best. Thank you so much

These folks are part of Logan Iverson's family.

Logan is an outstanding player on the Bulldog basketball team.  I learned last night that Grandma and Grandpa, on the right, were students at Sandpoint High when I was Miss Brown and had first started teaching.

Grandma was one of my students.

Grandpa told me they were high school sweethearts, and it's obvious they still are.

Lovely family.

Below:  while we were at the Sandpoint games, my classmates and dear friends Janet and Rick were attending the Gonzaga women's game.

We texted back and forth a few times.

They took advantage of a festive photo op., and I think it's adorable, just like them.
