It's been a bit blizzardy out there this morning.
Snow has been falling for a few hours now, and there's a hint that a wind would really like to blow.
So far, however, it's remained fairly calm.
My horses are having their pedicures this morning, so, with the snow, Roxane is leaving them in their stalls for Steve's arrival.
While driving near the Granary District, I remembered that Bobbi Gooby had moved back from Oregon and is now working at Evans Bros. Coffee.
So, I turned in, parked and spent some time reconnecting with her.
I've known her since she was born because her parents, known for Gooby Meat Co., were neighbors and longtime family friends when we lived on Great Northern Road.
I had not seen her for at least ten years, but when I walked into the area where the packaging of Evans Bros. products is done, there stood Bobbi, concentrating on her work.
The minute she spotted me, it was as if no time had passed. She calmly said hello, smiled and we continued on with a brief and fun visit.
I learned from one of her colleagues that business is brisk for Evans Bros., especially through their online orders.
After saying good bye to the group, I wandered on around the Granary District and noticed that granary itself is for sale.
During my time there, it looked as if some potential buyers were looking at the building, which was once part of the Co-Op complex.
Across the street from the granary, I noticed that one of the shops, which I had remembered as an upholstery business, is now a thrift store.
It's called The Cove Collective.
Once inside, I met Eric Plaster who runs the place. We discussed some of his family genealogy and then I went about my way, checking out the neat and tidy store with its interesting and well-stocked collections of clothing, electronics, flatware, paintings, etc.
It was a fun experience meeting Eric and browsing through the store, which marked one more stop on the list of my ongoing rediscovery of my home town.
