Debbie at the Y; Oh, Deer!

Debbie has a job! I heard from my daughter-in-law this morning that she has succeeded with her first-ever career-oriented interview. After receiving the call last night acknowledging her selection, she'll sign all the forms and start orientation this Friday with Spokane's YWCA. She'll be working with homeless children and after-school programs.

This news comes as no surprise to me. I may harbor a little prejudice toward my adorable daughter-in-law, but she has already distinguished herself as one of those dedicated workers whom employers value. For several years, she's worked for Boise City Recreation Dept., coordinating both after-school and summer programs for kids. The rec department has always happily worked around her college schedule and even with her other jobs just to keep her on board.

For a couple of years, Debbie also put in long hours at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise, again coordinating activities for pre-school children of hospital employees. She's a natural with little kids, so I'm sure she'll once again prove to be a valuable asset for the YMCA in Spokane.

This news means that for the first time in their 4-year marriage Willie and Debbie will be living together under one roof and earning money for something other than college tuition, books, expenses, etc. They're on their way professionally and with a bit more normal marital situation than they've experienced this past two years with Willie commuting between Sandpoint and Boise every weekend.

Congratulations to the young Love's of Spokane!

On another note: I've seen five deer from my windows this morning. Earlier while taking my glaucosimine-chondroitan, I looked out the kitchen window in time to see two Whitetail hanging out beneath the willow tree. They didn't seem too concerned when I walked out to the porch and wished them a good morning--- just ambled off toward the pond.

While writing about Debbie, I looked up in time to see a mama and twin fawns snooping around my flower bed just across the driveway. I got up, went to the front door and said hi to them too, but the fawns decided to run off. So, Mama followed close behind.

Life is good on mornings like this.
