Better check in earlier tomorrow if you want to catch the first draft of Slight Detour. I hope that faithful readers know that I do edit several times within the hour of posting cuz I see all those glitches and gaps that occur while my fingers are not quite coordinating with my brain. Actually, the fingers have rarely coordinated wholeheartedly with the brain, but that's another story.
Anyway, if all goes well, I'll be blogging thirty times faster than ever before----except on those few occasions when I've stayed in motels/hotels with high speed Internet and I've had the right stuff for the high speed Internet. I've learned the last few times that I'd better get wireless wired, or I'm gonna miss out when I travel or I'll have to share the community computer at the motel. Neither option is fun for news addicts like me.
The Wild Blue people are coming at 9 this morning to install satellite equipment here at the Lovestead. They told me it's 30 times faster, so I'm working with my fingers, urging them to speed up to meet the demand of entering the new age of Internet fun. Well, okay, I do know that you're not going to get your blog posting any faster.
Nonetheless, this is gonna be nice. Bill agreed with me that the move would be an ideal anniversary present to ourselves. So, we're taking the plunge, and our marriage will be happier.
No longer will Marianne be making hissing sounds whenever Bill spends too much time on the upstairs computer checking out new geocaches, shopping at forestry and clothing sites or keeping up with Presbyterian correspondence.
We can now use the two computers at the same time, so bliss will reign here at the Lovestead.
And, blogging will be easier, especially with the photos. When I post photos every morning, it usually takes at least an hour. Thirty times faster cuts that down to two minutes if I calculate correctly. So, if you like the photos, look out. You may get more than your share, once Wild Blue takes over.
Another reason I'm thrilled is because of all the people over the past couple of years who have high speed Internet and who have happily sent me 8000k-plus forewards which have taken up to an hour to download only to be unviewable in my dinosaur Internet option.
In some cases, I've as tactfully as possible asked if these generous folks could please take me off their foreward list cuz I'm living in the dark ages of computerdum. In one case, I think the person got mad at me cuz they don't write any more at all. Maybe I can work a diplomatic miracle and entice this person back into my circle of correspondents.
Another plus is that I can now watch the video stuff on the news and on Huckleberries online----and maybe even get well educated on U-tube stuff.
It's going to be fun and surely it's going to save a lot of time. But then, the thought does occur to me that this technological updating will open new doors, and I'll probably be spending more time at the computer than ever before.
I guess I'll worry about that later, when I have time, that is.

Yes indeed, Wild Blue is the way to go for us country girls living off the high-speed internet grid! Watch out cause the laundry falls by the wayside with WB--no need to sort or fold while waiting for pictures to load.
Congratulations! You are going to love high speed! It will make your world so much more peaceful when you don't have to wait an hour for a picture to load! =)
Welcome to the 21st Century...you're going to LOVE it!
