Saturday Slight

It's early as I write today. Up at 4:30 to allow for plenty of time to be on the road by 7 a.m. It was a hair-washing morning so that took extra time.

I still wish someone would come up with an invention where women with long hair could put a contraption to wear at night (comfortable one, of course---after all, I'm of the era of those who attempted to sleep on those sadistic, huge plastic rollers) which by morning the doohicky would do its job of washing and blow drying.

When I was still teaching and washing/blow drying my hair every single day, I dreaded that time of the morning more than anything. The alternative, however, of having my hair---which has a mind of its own---looking like it had gone off on a few slight detours provided incentive enough.

Well, anyway, I've done the routine for the day. Most of my stuff for the seminar is packed in my suitcase. I learned that trick from Paul Quinnett, author of Pavlov Trout one day when he came walking into a book signing at the Silver Lake Mall pulling his luggage with him. Out came the stacks of books he hoped to sell for the day, and he saved his back from carrying all those boxes.

Seemed like a good idea, so I'm trying it today.

My clothes are ironed and ready to throw on once the morning barn chores are done.

The best part of this morning was the night. I slept.

That's easier said than done when I have a big day of having to "be on" in public. So, I'm thankful for the Z's and hoping the tummy behaves also. I received all kinds of advice from kind former students and friends. Jenny, the seminar organizer, told me all the participants are much nicer than she----and she's a very nice lady. So, with hope, all will go well.

Happy Saturday to all.
