More Winter Wonderment

Annie announced on Facebook yesterday that she was playing hookey from work and going snowboarding at Stevens Pass.

What she didn't announce to the world was that she was playing hookey with her bosses, all avid snowboarders.

Annie tried snowboarding for the first time at Schweitzer while she was home for Christmas.

Every day afterward, we heard about all the new aches and pains her body had incurred as she spent more than an hour trying to make it down her first run.

Her friend Becca told her she was doing well for a beginner, adding that it's good to get back at the sport as soon as possible.

Well, Annie let her body heal. Then, this week, she started her new soccer season one night and headed to the mountain the next morning.

Yesterday's periodic Facebook reports from her i-phone indicated gradual improvement in her boarding skills. "Well, I haven't fallen, except off the chairlift . . . I can make turns now, etc."

Later, the group stood for this photo. Annie is second from the right.

I haven't heard any body ache reports yet this morning.

While Annie was snowboarding, I took the dogs for a short hike at the Ginter Fish and Game property northeast of Sandpoint, just past the Pack River General Store on Rapid Lightning Creek.

The coating of hard snow made walking easy and a joy. So far, I've used my snowshoes just once this winter.

With another beautiful day, it was fun to snap a few photos.

Enjoy. Happy Saturday, and GO ZAGS!
