Saturday Slight

What we wished for will appear soon, I hope.  Our yearning for a gorgileous weekend is in the weather prognosticator cards.

That means scurrying and determining just where to put the outdoor efforts first.

I told Bill this morning I needed a new board for the barnyard fence to replace the one filled with ridges where teeth of an equine nature whittled away at the wood.

After finding an easy way to hook up my electric fence last fall, I've walked past the barnyard all winter and early spring with great satisfaction.

On the other side of the fence,  two horses,  whose habit of chewing my fence and thumbing their noses at me for the past two years,  just give me frustrated looks.
They're not happy that white fence boards have been removed from their diet.

Still, the fence needs a lot of restoration with paint and replacement of that one signature board of ridges.  So, that's one project for the weekend.

Back in my education days, we learned about "urgent" projects and the "important" projects.  Among the urgents which will rule most weeks from now on is the lawn.

I have an excuse for letting it go at least a day, though.  Many areas in the yard still feel like wet sponges. So, the weight of a lawnmower is not wise, just yet.

Probably tomorrow, though.

If the soil in my garden, now inside my new garden fence, dries out, I can take the rototiller over it to help it dry out some more.   Not today though.

There is an area out south of the house which I've added to the lawn.  Over the past week, I've raked, removed and mowed tall, dead grass around some of Bill's baby trees and some mature trees.

As the spot turns green, we should have a nice addition with some pleasant shade.

Today I'll probably make room in the greenhouse for my 30-plus geraniums.  Thriving in the kitchen garden window since their seed was planted,  they make me proud looking pretty much like normal healthy geraniums.

Once in the greenhouse, I think they'll bush out even more, and when the red blossoms start popping out, I'll rejoice.  Haven't yet decided where they'll go, but I've got several pots filled with soil, waiting.

My horses will probably get some more grooming, dogs will frolic in the fields, and we humans will just generally celebrate the sights, sounds, smells and the work of spring.

A good time will be had by all.  Happy Saturday!
