Green, Green Grass of Home

How ya gonna keep 'em down on the farm once they've seen Paree???

Well, our daughter-in-law Debbie left Paris this morning, then boarded a flight from London, and she's in the sky, on her way home.

She'll be here tomorrow, and I'm hoping sights like those pictured above will rival some of what she saw in Paris.

We're all anxious to see her---now the world traveler.

AND there are two doggies downstairs who will be thrilled beyond belief when their mom comes rolling into the driveway tomorrow.

I'm hoping to have my camera handy.

One other time, when Willie and Debbie came home from a trip and turned into the driveway, I swear those dogs literally flew across the yard and one did honestly shoot through the window and land in Willie's lap.

They like their grandparents, but their parents are the ultimate.

It will be a great homecoming, and Debbie will return to some beautiful weather and magical spring beauty.

I snapped the photos last night while taking Foster for a walk around the farm.  With high-water obstacles all but gone, the walk was pleasant.   And, that grass is so gorgeous.

~~~~Yesterday was a good day for the family.  Bill did wear the hat as honorary chair of the Idaho Forestry Contest and he did let folks know he was wearing it in honor of Joe Venishnick.
Then, the day was topped off by the fact that my sister Laurie's six-grade team won the rookie division----which had 200 competitors.
Bill had spent the last month visiting her class and teaching them the basics of forestry.
So, congratulations to the students, to Laurie and to Bill.  A great achievement, indeed!
~~~~~I remember during my teaching days how virtually every waking moment during the month of May involved finishing one task and hurrying on to another.  It's amazing we ever remember much from the month cuz we had so little time to process it all.

It was a "git-er-done" month, for sure.

I'm no longer teaching, but this weekend's family events seem to fit right in the mold mentioned above.  Lawn needs to be mowed today, and house cleaned.

My farrier, John Fuller, is coming tomorrow at 8 a.m. to take care of horses' feet.

I'm hoping to have my downtown clothes ready for the minute he leaves, throw them on and head to town for a mother-daughter tea at The Bridge.

Willie takes off this afternoon for Seattle to pick up Debbie.  Barbara and Laurie go to Coeur d'Alene tomorrow where Barbara will be the official judge for the 4-H horse judging contest.

Bill goes back to Careywood this morning to take care of clean-up details on the forestry contest.

My brother Mike and his wife Mary are heading this way today for a weekend of family events.  Their two daughters and their families will be here too.

Somehow during the weekend we may be lucky enough to all see each other at one venue, maybe not.  In between all those activities come planting,  lawn watering, dog walking, horse transfers from barnyard to pasture . . . .

Regardless of the BUSYness, it will be a fun weekend with the most perfect weather we could ever want.   Plus, the excitement with everyone seeing each other and sharing their tales should be great.

The stars have definitely lined up for a memorable weekend here in the green, green grass of home.  Love it!

Happy Friday.
