Of course, it's thundering out there, and the lightning is striking for the second consecutive morning. Don't know how long our electricity or our Internet will stay on, so I'll try to get this posted.
This is truly a dark and stormy morning. Yesterday we had no electricity at the fairgrounds for the first few hours of the horse show. When we started late, my lungs got a workout as did my body.
The arena had been watered before Mother Nature decided to add a good dump of rain. And, with no electricity, that meant yelling out results while walking through the slop with the judge and ring steward.
We managed, and eventually the electricity came on. In spite of the chaos, the show went very well yesterday, with performance classes ending around 2:30 p.m.
I went back later for the evening rounds of gymkhana-style games. Foster came along with me and met some new friends----Wylie and Axle. They belong to Libby and Isaac Schoonover, and, yes, dear friend Kathy, they're related to your little Copper.
I also snapped a photo of a hard-working couple, Ma and Pa Leen (Kenny and Moreen). They and their family work long hours to put on the Spots of Fun Show every year.
Their dedication inspires everyone else and ensures a good time for all.
Plus, Moreen's efforts to go out and get really nice prizes, like all those belt buckles, pay off in the entry department. Folks come from all around to participate and compete for one of those buckles.
By the end of the day today, they'll all be given away, along with the special buckle honoring our dad, Harold Tibbs.
Anyway, except for the stormy weather, the show is going well, and I'd better sign off so I can get ready to head off for the final day of announcing.
Hope there's electricity----in the circuits and not the air.
