As mentioned yesterday, I took my camera to the fair and found a wonderful variety of subjects for the digital photo contest.
We had to draw our category from a basket. Mine was "critters," while other contestants had "young and old" and "fair food."
Off I went, first to the poultry barn, where it's hard to get a good photo of critters in a cage. I visited the goat show where I found a nice dog and some goats in cute get-ups. By the way, I missed the "goat dressage" show.
I found a "pretty in pink" Angus 4-H project. Cows just don't perform for photographers, unless they're renegade cows out in a ring dragging their owner.
Contented cows just sit there, chewing their cuds and occasionally chomping on grain.
Around lunch time, lots of humans were chewing on and savoring the "Beef---it's what's for lunch," served by the Bonner County Cattle Ladies.
They've been promoting and serving their beef clear back to the days when they were called "Cow Belles." I liked that name a lot better.
And, those fair queens---they certainly don't fit in the critter category, but when they say they don't like their pictures taken and then give you the royalty wave, you've got to shoot 'em, with your camera, that is.
I went to the herding competition and knew that my sister had a far better lens for catching the action in the ring, so I sat in the bleachers and visited with folks and Border Collies.
While there, I found my subject for "critters."
Yup, those little piggies were having a good time once they escaped from their boot.
So, I thought of a title (which was not allowed in the digital photo contest but IS allowed on my blog).
I call this "Who let the pigs out?"
Those toes belong to little Quinn, daughter of my friend and former student Erica and granddaughter to the mayor of Dover.
The mayor was out there with the dogs and sheep, while I was having a good time watching the little piggies in the stands.
If you want to go to Facebook and vote for the "piggies" on the "Bonner County Fairgrounds" wall, that's okay with me.

Marianne,
You're going to have to provide a link for me to vote for your photo.... some of us don't know how to access such things via Facebook.
You have to be on Facebook to vote. If you are, you go to the Bonner County Fairgrounds wall. Type in the name in the window.
They may ask you to "like" Bonner County Fairgrounds before proceeding to the voting.
It's no big deal if it doesn't work out. Just a fun thing and some fun photos taken.
