A Rocky Mountain High, Oh My!

Bags are almost packed.  Lots of layers among the clothes.

Plenty of techno stuff to keep in touch,  to take and display pictures and, of course, to play Facebook.

I even have ALL the necessary cables for this trip.

A list of "general chores" has been posted on the kitchen island for Bill while I'm gone.

Cats are on "keep-fill" service.  Lefty gets to dine all day in the big hayfield.  Hope his skin behaves.

Dogs are sensing that someone's leaving.

In a few hours, I'll be on my way from "own private Idaho" to another of America's beautiful landscapes.  Hope the weather is similar to what we have here.

I understand that fall colors are at their best.   We'll go from Denver to Aspen to Montrose (where I'll see one of my dearest lifelong friends and horselovers, Susie).

We'll complete our sight seeing in Colorado Springs.

"WE" are Annie and I.

One day of the trip will be designated as "Annie's birthday gift day."  Mom will pay all the bills.

Maybe that will be while we're in and around Aspen.

After all, Annie was born during the beauty of the October autumn, on a lovely sunny day.

And, John Denver sang "Sunshine on My Shoulder" as she left on her first-ever road trip:  the three-mile drive from Bonner General Hospital to our home on Great Northern Road.

The miles our "Precious" has traveled, the mountains she's climbed, the people she's seen throughout the world since that day almost 34 years ago are close to infinite.

More to come though.

It will be fun joining her to add to her personal odometer as we enjoy our "Rocky Mountain High."

Of course, I'll share the moments in pictures.

Happy Friday.  See you in cyberspace, reporting in from Colorado.

In the meantime, enjoy one of the truly beautiful voices of our time . . . take it away, John.

Be sure to see the Air Force Academy Chapel in Colorado Springs, and take the tram in the Garden of the Gods, don't forget Pike's Peak!
