A Perfect Day, Yes!

Another turning point a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist directs you where to go
So make the best of this test and don't ask why
It's not a question but a lesson learned in time

[Chorus]
It's something unpredictable but in the end is right.

I hope you've had the time of your life

So take the photographs and still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time
Tattoos and memories and dead skin on trial
For what it's worth it was worth all the while

                                             ---Green Day

Yes, Green Day said it well in their uplifting classic.

It was one of those perfect days when Bill and I had "the time of our lives."  Twas unpredictable until the end, for sure.

The end came about midnight, far past my bedtime, but "it was worth all the while."

The start Included more magnificent beauty as we traveled the back roads from Richfield to Provo, Utah.

We drove down a dirt road in farm country and found an artistic silo to use as a prop in the midst of a gorgeous backdrop.

We hiked on crunchy dry snow in the midst of a perfect bubble of nature---gorgeous mountains, blue sky, sun radiating heat on our backs.

We arrived in Provo and the Marriott Center where we met the crowd of exhuberant and friendly BYU students who had camped out for days in anticipation of the Big Game.

We will never forget the warmth and the welcome of all who hosted and organized so many behind-the-scenes aspects of a game which held more importance than ever for our ZAGS.

Thank you, ticket staff and students.

We snapped photos of ZAGS and their staff as they came through the door and headed to the locker room to get ready for a game that could propel them to No. 1 in the nation.

We marveled at the sold-out crowd of nearly 22,000, mostly BYU loyalists, but a smattering of the Gonzaga faithful, all proud to promote their ZAGS apparel and happy to exchange high 5's with their fellow fans.

The BYU choir gave us goosebumps and the blimp advertising BYU's campus creamery flew over the crowd.

The game began.  The yelling ensued.  The refs got reamed verbally from the crowd around us.

ZAGS and Cougars slugged it out.

Near heart-attacks ensued in the stands.  Silent "Hail Mary's" seemed necessary during those last four minutes.

Someone must have been listening.

ZAGS did rock.  Fans on both sides loved the spirit of the hard-fought game.

Victorious players and staff kindly gave autographs to an old lady in the cold darkness of the late night, even posed for a fun photo.

It was something unpredictable, for sure,
But in the end we had the time of our lives.

Thank you, BYU staff and students for your friendliness and your graciousness.

Thank you, ZAGS!

You do ROCK, and we are proud of you-----No. 1 in the Nation.

It was a pleasure to meet you yesterday. I was one of the BYU fans camping outside the Marriott Center. It was an excellent game and I'm thrilled that I could be a part of it, and glad that you and your husband were able to enjoy your experience in Provo. Will be cheering for the Zags the rest of the way, unless they meet the Cougars in Vegas. Good luck, you represent the Gonzaga fanbase well!
