Beauty in the Blahs
Sometimes you have to look and wait, but beauty will emerge even on blah days.
That's kinda how it's been the past couple of days as we've seen rain, wind, hail, snow and gray, gray, gray.
Last evening, however, I found a little beauty during a sun break, in our flower beds and at the Meserve Preserve. I also found some this morning on my walk down the road.
The old Lockwood place offers oodles of pastoral scenes most any time of the year, as does this whole neighborhood.
Snow is falling as I type. Moosie is probably down near Love Canal chomping away again today.
This morning she was near our apple trees.
Kea knew exactly where she was even from her bedroom inside the garage. I opened the door at about 5:05.
Kea hit the starting gate and raced toward the apple trees. Kiwi stayed close behind. Within seconds, in the dim light, I could see Moosie reluctantly leaving the north lawn.
Within seconds of that, I could see Kiwi, the coward of the county, standing right behind me in the doorway.
Perimeter Dog, though, finishes the job. Moosie wasn't moving fast enough to escape the Lovestead, so Kea got a little closer and barked a little louder.
At the end of the driveway, Moosie got mad and lunged at Kea. Kea barked louder and continued her pursuit of the nocturnal front-lawn bush-eating intruder.
Moosie had to keep trotting south to the safety of her bedding area down Love Canal near the border of Kaubleville and the Lovestead.
Kea stood guard until she was satisfied that one more invader had been put in its place, literally.
Later, we could see Moosie taking a break from munching and resting in the grass just east of Love Canal. I took the camera down and shot some more pictures.
She got up and went back to eating. My pictures of her weren't that great cuz it's gray, she's gray and most of the area where she chomps is gray.
In fact, I'm wondering if Moosie's gonna see her shadow one of these days and I'm wondering when and if that happens, we're guaranteed just six more weeks of blahs.
We'll see. For now, some of the plants are brave like Kea and popping up to add a little color to the scene.
In the meantime, it snows and snows and snows on this blah day. I'm sure I'll find some more beauty to enjoy before it ends, though.
Happy Sunday.
