An Afternoon Visit to Foxy Glen

We (Barbara, Laurie, Debbie and I) left a drizzly day in Sandppoint behind and drove to a beautiful setting north of Priest River yesterday afternoon. Our friend Lorna, daughter of our friend Jean Martin,  prepared a lunch of sumptuous chicken enchiladas and salad.  Then, she shed her apron and put on her chaps, hat and jacket in preparation for a ride on her new horse.

Jean, Barbara (in background), Laurie and Debbie, as we began our walk around Jean's gorgeous farm.

Turkeys were happy to join in on the action just about everywhere we went.

Just one of the spectacular views we enjoyed while walking around Jean's beautifully manicured farm.

Jean Martin, longtime family friend, horse lover, hunter, wood chopper, avid skier,  farmer, grandma and all that stuff, and would you believe she's 77?  Great inspiration.

Turns out Lorna was the only one who rode a horse.  Original plans had everyone but Lorna and Debbie riding horses.  Steady rain over the mountain in Sandpoint caused us to ditch our trail ride plans in favor of visiting and hiking. We yearned to have our horses on what would have been a beautiful and leisurely ride, but the hiking and the visiting turned out just fine.  Lorna looked pretty smart atop her new mount.  Lorna and Laurie were high school classmates, and our mutual families' horse activities date back so far I can't count them all. A long time for sure!

Just a little hanky panky while unsuspecting Barbara and Laurie looked at camera images.

Lorna, you and your horse are definitely a team!  Thanks to you and Jean for a memorable and fun afternoon.
