Family Fun Day with the Actors

Debbie, Barbara and Chris.  Barbara's students attended the POAC performance Friday.
It was a day of fun subplots for our family as we spent some time getting acquainted with and showing New Yorkers aka Philly and LA Chris Snock and Cherita Armstrong some of the delightful aspects of our life in North Idaho.

It did not take more than a second to feel completely comfortable with these two remarkable talents who came to Sandpoint for the POAC showing of Incidents in the Life of a Slave Woman at the Panida Theater over the weekend.

Sunday was their day to enjoy, so we spent the afternoon visiting and showing them sights, sounds, horses, Lake Pend Oreille, the God Tree and Second Avenue Pizza.  Chris had some commitments so he could not join us for dinner.

Cherita, a native of the Bronx and Chris, who hails from Philadelphia and proudly asserts his Philadelphia Eagles loyalty, work through The American Place Theater/Literature to Life program under artistic director and co-founder Wynn Handman.

The company's mission is to bring great literature alive through their performances.  Along with each performance come discussion periods to enhance the audience's critical thinking.

Thanks to Debbie's involvement with POAC, several members of our family had the opportunity to enjoy the brilliant talents of both Cherita and Chris.

Chris is a former educator turned teacher artist, while Cherita has pursued acting and musical disciplines throughout her life----after making pot holders in Girl Scouts, that is!

During our visit with them yesterday, we enjoyed nonstop, lively discussion from both as they told us of their travels, their interests, some zany car talk and even their favorite singers, a fact that made me feel a definite kinship.

After all, when you like John Denver, Neil Diamond, Willie Nelson and the Eagles, you've got excellent taste, right???

We are all very thankful for the time we spent with Cherita and Chris, and we're hoping they'll both find their way back to Sandpoint some day.

Meeting my sisters' horses at Colburn.

Debbie and Manny enjoy some nuzzling.

Let them talk; we'll eat!

Cherita and Rusty become chums.

Bill introduces Cherita and Chris to the principles of the Lodgepole Society.

Cherita signs on as  "lifetime" member.

Then it's time for tree climbing.

Bill and Cherita.  By the way, just think "Chaka Khan" to pronounce "Cherita."

Serious stuff for Annie
They kinda liked the lake when we took them above the Hope Cemetery.
