A 5-Flower Friday

Front line in a legion of white iris.  I built a big planter box near the barn a few years ago and put a few iris inside.

Now, the box has no room for anything else.  I think it might be time to do some bulb separating but not before this year's crop puts on a beautiful show.

Lilacs ALMOST!

They're just now popping open here at the Lovestead, but that usual pleasant, sweet fragrance is coming with the color.

This band of columbine had a visitor last night.  I love the intricate and artistic shapes of these delicate flowers.

No aroma just yet but some pretty petunias.  The warm days have brought out the blossoms, even though some of my home-planted petunia bodies barely have their  growth just yet.

So, a walk across the yard reveals many big blooms on tiny green foundations.

Margaret, are you watching?  Bill's sister sent me this horse planter a few years ago, and I'm thinking this year's display has finally done the planter justice.

Every year it seems that the tail ends up separated from the body.  Eventually, though, I round up all the parts and put the horse back together again for each year's posie deposit.

Can't beat this pair.

Up close and personal with any flower is always a treat, but these lovely columbine took Grand Champion in my Thursday evening flower show here at the Lovestead.

Not a lot else on the agenda this morning.  If you're local, don't forget to spend some time at "Plow Day" tomorrow where you'll see the antique tractors working up the Earth and where you can donate to the Historical Society's fund to build a new display facility at Kootenai.

Hope everyone has a safe, meaningful and fun Memorial Day weekend.

Happy Friday.

The pony planter filled with posies is just too "precious," Marianne. Way cool. :)
