Tuesday Twitterdeedum

Seems like the cottonwood storm has finally subsided this morning.  The fluffy, annoying stuff has been floating through this area for almost a week.  Yesterday, it hit almost blizzard proportions with the accompanying wind.

I about had my fill of it while mowing the lawn.  My eyes really suffered from its effects, even with sunglasses for protection.

This morning my horses are coughing, and one has a snotty nose.  I know colds have been going around with area horses, but I also wonder if the cottonwood fuzz is creating most of the havoc with their systems.

Time will tell, but it's nice to see the lawn stay relatively green and a whole lot less white stuff floating in the air.

Last night, feeling quite thrilled to have completed the whole mowing job in one day, I rewarded myself with a bike ride down Woodside Road.  Before heading off, I snapped a photo of the pretty iris out by the road.  Plus, my bike looked kinda neat sitting on the road with Taylor's field of cows in the background.

While pedaling along Woodside Road, I saw two tractors at work in the big farm fields on either side of the road.  One was pulling a drill, seeding a big patch of ground, while the other had what looked like a fertilizer tank behind it.

Except for birds flitting from fence post to fence post or up to high wires and the tractors, I enjoyed the solitude of that early evening ride.

Not too many new items for pictures, though, since I ride there quite often, but I'm always drawn to old fences and gates.

Those hinges turn pretty photogenic as they rust over the years.  This hinge was part of a loading chute on the Wood property.  I don't think it gets much use anymore.

I also loved the scene looking to the west as the sun was about to dip below the mountain. The area is a wonderful place to ride a bike after all the big dump trucks stop their hauling from the gravel pit for the day.  Things quiet down considerably.

On my way back, the evening sun was creating wonderful lighting on Elton Anderson's horses as they grazed in the field of grass, buttercups and cattails.

We've definitely hit that time of year where everything outdoors looks exquisite on sunny summer evenings.

Over in Portugal, Annie's wrapping up her time with the Mega Event.  I sent her a video of Foster last night, telling her that he gets excited when he hears her name.

She'll be able to see him when she comes home this weekend, but in the meantime, it looks like a dog of the same color just bigger size attracted her affections at today's segment of the Mega Event.

I'm sure there's a story behind the doll, and we'll hear it soon.  She says the experience with the Portuguese geocachers has been wonderful as it was two years ago on her last visit.

We'll be glad to see her this weekend, as the last time we saw her was when we parted company from the Ireland trip back in April.

Not a lot else going on this morning.  Bill has just taken the new old motor home to Lake RV for the third time in several days.  Today it should get its new overhead vents to replace those shattered and destroyed in the hail storm.

We'll be perfectly happy if we don't see any hail for a long, long time, as the next item to be fixed is the wind shield of the Suburu.

On a positive note, my lettuce is rebounding and almost as pretty as it was last week.  I'll wait until I get my new lens to take a picture, though.

Guess that's enough drivel for this morning.  Happy Tuesday.
