Road Trips

Bill and I took two road trips this weekend----one in the car; the other, on our bikes.

The first road trip ensures that many more will follow. In a week or so, we'll pull our new Rpod Travel Trailer home and start making plans to use it.

Besides trips around the area with family, we view the trailer as an extra dwelling when company comes.  We'll decide if the company stays in the trailer or if we do.

The travel-trailer idea has been simmering for a while, but it has hit full boil in the past several weeks for a number of reasons.  With this past weekend being free of planned activities and a bad weather forecast for Saturday, it seemed like a good time to take the plunge and go look at trailers.

We checked out several models at Greyhound Park where the Blue Dog RV crew had a sale. After picking one out, we decided to think about it over coffee.

That's when Bill suggested that we go look at Rpods.  To say I was resistant would be an understatement cuz I honestly thought Rpods were iddy biddy trailers where we'd be constantly climbing over each other.

Turns out they are smaller than others but not quite the trailer I had envisioned.  They're extremely well-made (that's what ya pay for).  They do have iddy biddy bathrooms where ya'd better watch your nose when you turn or you might bump it on the wall.

A look was all it took.  I changed my mind about Rpods.  They're attractive, and, of course, Bill is thrilled with the attractive fisherman decal on the side.

We gave up some space by selecting this particular trailer, but that means we'll have more space in our storage shed when the new trailer replaces the new old motorhome.

The latter is for sale for a cheap price if anyone is interested in a neat, clean vintage motor home which needs a little electrical work.  As Bill suggested, "Just say it runs."

We had a lot of fun Saturday, looking and deciding and then dickering with a very nice, knowledgeable Blue Dog salesman Steve Barton who happens to live just a few miles up the road from us.  Steve also works on the sets for the Festival at Sandpoint.

We're both pretty excited about all the possibilities for headin' on down the road with our new purchase.

Meanwhile, our road trip last night took us on a Shingle Mill Road loop in Selle.  We had puttered around most of the afternoon in between watching the Master's.

I love the new storyline for golf that has developed, thanks to this year's Master's.  From everything I've read and seen, Jordan Spieth is an impressive young man and a very talented golfer.

It was also neat to see my other favorites, Phil Mickelson and Rory McElroy, finish right up there at the top with Jordan.

After the tournament and the disappointing end to yesterday's Sounders-Galaxy soccer match in Los Angeles where Annie was with her friends, we set off on our bikes and just enjoyed a brisk ride through another neighborhood in the beautiful Selle Valley.

Of course, I took a few stops along the way to snap some photos.  It's hard to go wrong in Selle any time of the year, especially the spring time.

The week ahead looks lively family-wise, to say the least.  Willie and Barbara are heading off Thursday for their annual journalism convention, which this year is in Denver, and Debbie will be in Boise for part of the week.

The grass is growing and that means some significant lawnmower time for me as well as more work to prepare the gardens, while dreaming and scheming about where we'll take the trailer for the first time.

Fun thoughts and fun work.

Happy Monday all.

Looking good! The new old motorhome probably could find a home with your friends the fly fisherwomen on the road! H
