Saturday Slight

This cowboy photographer travels the country selling his photos and says there's no real place he calls home.

Yesterday he was busily organizing his inventory for this weekend's Pend Oreille Arts Council annual Arts and Crafts Fair at City Beach in Sandpoint.

More than a hundred vendors will be on hand displaying and selling their talents.

Yesterday was a busy day for our daughter-in-law Debbie and her POAC veteran volunteer Judy Thompson (the outlaw, of course).  It was set-up day for the Arts and Crafts Fair at City Beach.

The event begins later this morning and runs through tomorrow afternoon.  Besides the arts and crafts, the venue will also be alive with ongoing entertainment and sustaining with yum, yum food booths.

The volunteer booth for POAC was busy yesterday as vendors came to learn their locations for setting up display booths.  POAC assistant Kaori Parkinson talks with a vendor.

Even before the POAC Arts and Crafts Fair begins at City Beach, Dog Beach, just off the north end of the Long Bridge, will have scenes like this.

Walkers, runners, bikers and supporters will gather for another edition of Celebrate Life Fun Run and Walk.

It's a fundraising event that benefits cancer patients and their families, but it's much more than that.

Mini reunions of sorts, lots of visiting and a whole lot of remembering take place, all inspired by the spirit and vision of the late Jenny Jacobson Meyer who wanted people to simply celebrate life and each other.

Jenny's sister Julie (second from the right below) along with a host of dedicated volunteers and family members,  has taken Jenny's vision and spearheaded the event into a phenomenal fundraiser and an upbeat, hopeful annual happening.

In the Celebrate Life Fun Run/Walk everyone, from cancer patients to participants, wins.

I'll be there later with my pink bike and camera to visit and click.

Should be a fun morning.

Lots more going on in the area on this beautiful Saturday.

Let's hope that wherever our journeys take us through this August day that, in the spirit of Jenny Jacobson Meyer and all others who inspired us by the way they lived their lives, we take time to celebrate, in our own ways, all that God has given us on this Earth.

Happy Saturday.
