Fishin' and Walkin' and Clickin' at Round Lake

Twas Laurie's wish yesterday to experience part of her birthday fun at one of the small lakes "where we haven't spent too much time."  So, we chose Round Lake and soon learned it was Barbara's first visit.

The troops, including Bill with his fishing equipment, Barbara and Laurie's dogs and their leashes and three sisters with cameras all piled into Barbara's SUV and set out for an afternoon of fun.

Of course, as usual, the experience exceeded expectations because of the heavenly weather and the vast array of lovely moments in nature.  We passed by colorful cabbage patches, of the skunk variety, and marveled at a row of turtles sunning themselves on a log.

Other visitors were at the state park, fishing off the dock or lounging around in their camp sites, but the place was hardly overrun with "turists."  That made it extra special and totally enjoyable.

While Bill fished, the rest of us took a leisurely hike around the lake and a lot of photos. Up and down trails make benches along the way inviting, so we took advantage of brief rests before the next leg of our outing.

We topped off the day with vanilla ice cream cones from Burger King and all agreed that it had been a successful and fun birthday outing for celebrating Laurie's special day.

Enjoy the photos.  Happy Friday.
