Au Revoir, Adventure Girl

Today, our daughter, Annie Love/Precious/Mia Wallace of Sandpoint, Idaho, Seattle, Washington, and the world, sets off on the adventure of a her lifetime.

After serving a certain number of years, loyal employees of her company Groundspeak, Inc. (geocaching.com) are granted a sabbatical.

Knowing of this possibility, Annie hatched a dream a few years back:  take a pilgrimage on foot over the 500-mile Camino de Santiago, beginning in the French Pyrenees, crossing Northern Spain and ending in Santiago, home of the Cathedral of St. James, the Apostle.

This pilgrimage, which dates back to the 9th century, has been dramatically and nicely depicted by Martin Sheen in the family-friendly and inspiring movie The Way.

Today, Annie's dream turns into reality when she flies to Paris with only her backpack, carrying all essentials for six weeks away from home.

She'll spend tomorrow touring Paris with a geocaching friend and then on Tuesday, she'll fly to Biarritz and take a shuttle to St. Jean pied de Port where she'll stay overnight before beginning the initial journey Wednesday at 6 a.m./ (not before) local time (10 p.m. Tuesday PDT) over the French Pyrenees into Spain.

Annie has already made quite a mark, traveling the world, but this experience will definitely provide a highlight for the thousands of miles she's logged in air and on foot.

We feel so fortunate that she doesn't mind having family and friends enjoy these journeys vicariously through her experiences and her remarkable photography.

This time, as she did with her trip up Mt. Rainier a few years ago, Annie has started a blog, which has a few preliminary entries and will probably become more active in the days ahead, especially wherever she has access to Wi-fi.    https://adventuregirlannie.com/

So, sit back, check in and enjoy as Annie's dream adventure unfolds!

And, on a personal note-----to Annie:

We love you.

We are so proud of you.

We wish you the best.

Thank you for sharing this monumental life event with us, with the rest of your family, with your friends around the world and with others unknown----all of whom you inspire.

Safe travels!

---Mom and Dad Love
