Breathing Room: Let the Fun Begin

It's a nice place to be----not only here in beautiful North Idaho but also in a place where the list of "Have To's" over the summer is finally winding down---at least for a while.

Yesterday I pretty much wrapped up a story assignment after paying a visit to a new medical clinic in town.

It's owned by nurse practitioner Katie Sweeney. Alpine Family Medicine just opened Aug. 1 across the street from City Hall.

During my visit, I learned that her staff includes a set of Shranck sisters, one of whom I had as a student a while back.  AND, Katie's mother Anna Bricker was one of my drill team members a few years back.

It was fun meeting Katie and especially fun reminiscing about Sandpoint High experiences with Stephanie, her receptionist.

I learned that Alpine Family Medicine PLLC, does have a Facebook page, so if anyone is looking for a family practice, check it out.  Nice folks there!

With that story in its final form, most of my "have to's" coming up are "fun to's," and that's pretty exciting.

"Have to's" from this point on know no real schedule as I can "get around to" them when I feel like it.

Well, the painting project probably should be completed before the weather turns bad, but making jelly from all that fruit I've picked --that can come on any given day.

As fall approaches, I'm looking ahead with anticipation and a little sense of adventure. Heck, we might even get to load up our dogs, hook up to our travel trailer and go somewhere in September.

Bill has a few "Have to's" on his schedule over the next couple of weeks.  This week he's helping down at the church with the Bike and Build bicyclers who roll into Sandpoint and stay for a few days every year.  https://bikeandbuild.org/

Bike and Build is a volunteer organization of young people who pedal across the country in support of affordable housing, specifically Habitat for Humanity.  They encourage donations, or they actually help with home construction at various stops along the way.

The group of college students, cycling a northern route from New Hampshire to Bellingham, Wash., arrived in Sandpoint yesterday, so Bill spent most of the day at the church, where the riders enjoy some meals and bed down.

Each group of cyclists maintains a daily blog wherever there's Internet, and if you wish to learn about the travels thus far for the cyclists staying in Sandpoint, you can visit https://nus17.wordpress.com/.

Bill always enjoys working with the group because they have interesting personal stories to tell about their individual college experiences or about their adventures along the way.

He also will be fully involved in the 50th-year commemoration of the Sundance Fire, which burned 50,000-plus acre of forest land in the Selkirk Mountains,  coming up Sept. 1 and 2, so we'll be hanging around until that is over.

Then, who knows what direction we'll point that trailer.

Nice to be to this point where the calendar can function more as a planning guide for just plain fun aka "want to's."  And, that will be a nice change of pace.

Happy Wednesday.
