Fun and More Family at Farragut

Bill and I had the pleasure of showing some extended family members one of our more immediate family's favorite winter time spots yesterday.

They highly approved, and they even hail from a pretty nice place themselves:  Bainbridge Island near Seattle.

A whole lot fewer people, though, along with a glorious day and plenty of quiet, peaceful time for strolling along the shoreline of Lake Pend Oreille, watching a few eagles and inspecting a whole lot of rocks.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time spent with cousin Valerie of the Chicago Aspell clan, her husband Craig and daughters Baeven and Ani.

We've visited with them a couple of times before at Chicago family events and one other time when they came to Sandpoint.

Yesterday, however, offered the perfect and much more relaxed setting for getting to know and appreciate each other.

We were restricted by one deadline, allowing enough time for them to get back to their friends' house in Coeur d'Alene to watch the Oregon "Civil War" between their alma mater Oregon and Oregon State University.

Looks like they had a very satisfying evening of football viewing, since their Ducks clobbered the Beavers 69-10.

The only negative aspect of yesterday's visit to what many of us consider one of Earth's most beautiful spots:  my main camera would not work.

It does work a lot better with a battery inside.  Yesterday its battery spent most of the day plugged into its charge on our kitchen wall.  Not helpful when ya wanta take pictures.

Still, my cell phone did okay.

Later, we moved on to the Capt'ns Table at beautiful Bayview for an enjoyable lunch and more visiting.

I think Valerie and the troops will be coming back for more visits after yesterday.

It was a lovely day for enjoying the beauty which abounds in and around Farragut State Park.

I have a feeling we'll be making more trips down that way in the next few weeks as the eagle population increases. And, you can bet on the fact that I'll make sure there's a battery in my camera.

After a MUCH-needed uninterrupted 8-hour slumber, I'm ready for another ZAGS game.  This morning they take on Texas at the PK Tournament for third place honors.

Hope they've regained their energy after that Friday night marathon.

GO, ZAGS!  Happy Sunday and safe travels to all who are traveling home today.
