Spring Scenes and Dones

Twas a pretty good first day of spring here in the Selle Valley.

Although we're a ways out from the usual splendor that comes with nature's annual awakenings, the outdoors was still the place to be yesterday.

Sunshine, no rain, lots of melting going on and various projects completed kept the day on a positive track.

In my world, the following occurred:

Usual barn and indoor chores done  --- check.

Little Foster receives spring haircut --- check.

Note:  The pickup tailgate served as Foster's beauty parlor as Mom snipped away with the scissors.  Our little mini Aussie stood like a gentleman through it all, and it was obvious he felt like a million bucks when the snipping session was over.

More rocks, sticks and gravel raked and hauled away from various places along the driveway  --- check.

Hundreds more dog logs removed from lawn area---check.

I have noticed that dogs do have their favorite spots, and I can report that Foster (mini Aussies leave mini logs) prefers a spot on the lawn west of the barn some days and another spot southeast of the house on others.

As for Kiwi and Liam, their individual deposits are not so easily distinguished, but I do know that I threw a lot of big logs from an organized lineup of piles over the fence west of the house.

Two riding lawnmowers loaded on a trailer and taken to Pac West Parts repair shop for spring maintenance---check.

My sisters, who sent off lawnmowers and a side-by-side, Bill and I all really liked Jeremy who came to pick up the equipment.  Like Tony, he's very professional and genuinely dedicated to fixing things.

It's nice to know talented fix-it folks.

Daily grooming and leading session with CB---check.

Every day, during this mud season, there's grooming to do, and CB doesn't mind that one bit, especially when he gets to play with the big horses over the fence.

Lily Love gets bridle path clipped----check.

Now, if Lily Love would behave as well as little CB and Foster during her clip time, that would be nice.  Lily has always had a hatred for clippers, but after a stern reprimand, she did allow me to clip her bridle path.

Ears, no.  Muzzle, no.  Fetlocks, maybe.

We all learn in life that in some cases it's just best to leave well enough alone.  I decided that a long time ago with Lily who must have had a bad experience with clippers before she arrived in Idaho.

Big event for first day of spring:  evening walk---check!

Yes, finally with daylight and relatively dry roads, walking in the evening has once again become an option around here.

So, off I went toward Selle Road, snapping a few photos along the way.  I did find some temporary beauty along Murray's field where snow has melted to water and where lovely reflections abound.

The snow-capped mountains were a bit on the spectacular side last evening also.

Yup, it was a pretty satisfying first day of spring, and it looks like we may have another one today.

I would really like to not have to check off a predicted happening today:  rain.

No thanks!

Happy Tuesday.
