Horsin' Of Course!

This is a typical scene from the horse show I attended yesterday at Spokane Interstate Fairgrounds.

My sisters, brother and sister-in-law and several family friends are involved in the annual event.

So, of course, it was fun to see them in action, and, as always several beautiful Arabian showing their talents in a variety of classes.

On their way to the warm-up ring.  In one class at yesterday's Eastern Washington Arabian Show(s) these three took first, second and third.

Plus, they had a great day overall, adding several ribbons to their wall display

Pit crew Kevin, Jody and Hailey.

Barbara, Laurie and Roxzene visit with Northwest Showcase trainer Monty.

They've all known each other and "horsed around" for a "year or two."

I just loved this Half Arabian's regal look.

This lady is truly an inspiration and has been over the years with her showing talents and the beautiful horses she rides.

Marilyn Balch Martin grew up in Sandpoint.  Her parents sold my parents their first Arabians.

In later years, Marilyn also owned a beautiful stallion which sired a beautiful stallion Sunrise Request which my sister Barbara raised and trained.

Sunrise Request sired one of the magnificent horses of my lifetime Black Rambo.

It was neat to do some catching up with Marilyn yesterday at the show.

At 76, she is still truly inspiring as a talented and dedicated equestrian.

Maryann (right), our family friend  from North Center Valley Road, competes in English classes.

Hailey Johnson came to help her grandma Roxzene.

Last-minute slobber wipe.

Laurie and Siri.  Kevin and Laurie share ownership of this young mare.

Roxzene and Eddy

Barbara and her National Champion trail horse Dusty.

Door handle to the "horse house" at my sisters aka the old Tucker Dairy barn.

Brother Kevin who does the grooming, etc. for my sisters.

Some of Jerry Schilling's horses at the Shreffler farm on Center Valley Road.

I see these scenes while driving back and forth to my sisters' house to feed the dogs and water the flowers while they're gone.

I still think the Center Valley complex of roads offers some of the most beautiful rural scenery in our area.
