Bill's New Wheels, Et. Al.

The Deerslayer is on its way to vehicle Heaven somewhere near Newport.

Hi-O-Silver, all spit-shined and "smelling good inside," has arrived at its new home at the Lovestead.

On the subject of smell, that's what Willie texted when he came by to check it out.  When nobody was home, he let us know that it smelled good inside.

Bill took the pick-up plunge Wednesday and purchased the new pickup at Taylor and Sons Chevrolet from a charming and humorous saleslady named Jennifer.

The plunge into new truck ownership became necessary when the Deerslayer aka Ford Ranger, which he's been driving for 12 years, received a diagnosis with a not-so-good prognosis.

Two gears of the five work, the mechanic told him:  first and fifth.   That would get him to town and back, but probably would not be practical, especially in deer country.

Yes, the Ranger got dubbed the "The Deerslayer" because Bill has hit three deer while owning the pickup.

Anderson Autobody loves to see him at the door, seeking the next body repair.

We both hope the Silverado will start a new trend:  no deer incidents.

If he does have another mishap, however, he can look at his rear view screen and maybe figure out where the deer went after bouncing off the pickup.

In all seriousness, it's a beautiful truck---just 11,000 miles and owned by a sheriff in Washington.

Bill was hoping for a coupon book in the glove box filled with "get out of jail free" coupons.

Instead, the pickup when we were first introduced, did have an empty Olbertos jerky package on the floor in the back.

I noticed that when Bill said to climb in and look at the leg room.  No more knees jamming into the front seat, and, of course, I noticed and appreciated the phone charger outlet in the back.

Maybe we'll go for a drive this afternoon to see just how much we love this new set of wheels.

In the meantime, Terra will be coming to bathe Lefty.  We're down to the wire on the 4-H horse project, with the final practice last night and the two-day show this weekend.

So, it's a busy time from morning 'til night for the next few days.

While all this stuff is happening, the flowers keep on blooming.  Loving the lilies and all the color around the place.  It's never been so abundant as this year's show.

Besides the blooming, the berries keep coming on, and that adds to the hurry and scurry.

Weather is improving, and the farmers may finally get a break allowing them to get on with their hay.

Summer is certainly flying by, and it's noticeable with a little less daylight each day.

Happy Friday.
