Saturday Slight: Wildlife and Round Ball

It's turning into a broken record.  Four times in the past week, Bill and I have headed north to Bonners Ferry to walk on bare ground.

Each trip has been a little different.

In yesterday's case, we saw a variety of wildlife, including the resident young moose at the refuge, which hangs out with the geese.

We saw herd of elk on the move, and minutes later, we spotted a large herd of deer on a mission.

We also saw ducks, swans and a hawk or two.

Along our way, we also visited briefly with others who were out enjoying the sunshine and the sights and sounds of the Kootenai Wildlife Refuge.

The area has provided for us brief daily escapes.  Except for gas, our outdoor entertainment and exhilaration has been free.

Thanks to this past week and from the looks of a fairly nice week ahead, we may just make it through this winter in fine shape.

Thanks, Mother Nature.

It's Saturday, and besides a game featuring Willie's team in Boise (see photo and story below), it's big-time late February GAME DAY for the college teams.

No. 1 and No. 3 play at 9 our time, and this evening No. 2 takes on a tough ranked BYU team.

GO, ZAGS!  You can do this!

Happy Saturday.

We heard during the game broadcast on KSPT radio station last night that Willie's team of Bulldogs had practiced outside yesterday.

I'm thinking, based on the photo above, that they may have done the same this morning as they prepare to tip off against Caldwell at 10 a.m. PST in a contest that determines third place in the 2020 Idaho State Girls Basketball Tournament.

The Bulldogs tried valiantly to achieve what no team has been able to do in 26 games during this 2019-2020 season---defeat the Bonneville Bees.

For a few seconds last night, there was jubilance among team and fans as Sandpoint pulled ahead of Bonneville 14-13.

Twas short-lived, however.  The Bees went on to sting the Bulldogs, as you'll read in Daily Bee sports editor Dylan Greene's story below.

Bonneville moves on to the State Championship game in Nampa this evening.

Win or lose, Will Love's squad has demonstrated something very close to their coach's heart----they love the game of basketball, and they have given it their all this season.

Good Luck, Bulldogs.

Bring home that trophy! We are proud of you!
