Saturday Slight

Soft, silent and sustaining.

  That's this morning's rain.

It's about to end, and warm, dry weather for several days is on the way.

Happily, the overnight rain has soaked the ground enough that I may not need to drag the hoses around the yard and garden today.

Plus, the outdoors is clean and colors enhanced.

In short, it's a peaceful and pleasant Saturday morning.

As we relax our way through the early part of our day, Annie is making tracks in New York City and maybe not feeling relaxed because of her overnight flight.

Still, she's experiencing a welcome return to her life as a person who gets up to travel.

It will be fun to see her photo documentation of this weekend getaway.

Meanwhile, Willie is working his way into summer, having said good bye to another crop of students at Sandpoint High yesterday.

He'll continue on with his mentoring, though, in his role as girls basketball coach.  The Bulldog girls will compete in several summer league games over the next few weeks.

At almost the end of that series, Willie will turn over coaching to his assistants as he and Debbie fly to Iceland where they'll join Annie for five days of adventure, including a volcano and a guided fly-fishing trip.

Lots of excitement ahead as summer unfolds here in North Idaho.  Bill and I enjoyed a taste of summer in North Idaho yesterday afternoon while driving the Sunnyside Loop alongside Lake Pend Oreille.

Sunnyside is just that on part of the loop as hillsides with southern exposure are adorned with lupine, black-eyed susans and other wildflowers.  We even saw some fireweed in bloom.

Our day was topped off with a family dinner at Ice House Pizza in Hope.  Nice visiting.  Great view and, as always good food.

While at Ice House, I received a video from Mary who is training CB to be a saddle horse.

Even though they accidentally filmed in slow motion, it was really neat to see my young horse moving forward with a person sitting on him.

Looking forward to seeing more.  Mary says he's a bit on the lazy side (which I don't mind at my age).  She may start using spurs on him to enhance his personal speedometer.

Looks like the rain has stopped and that nice weather they've promised us for the weekend is on its way.

Should be a fun day.

Happy Saturday.
