It's another quiet morning here at the Lovestead.
We're getting some more rain, which is welcome.
Just putzing along this weekend with no big adventures but enjoying the cooler, wetter weather.
I decided yesterday that it's time to fill the bird feeders again.
We quit doing so earlier this summer when two bold raccoons kept coming early every to have their breakfast at the feeder outside the living room window.
So, one night down with no raccoons and looking forward to the menagerie of chickadees, finch, junco's etc., to get back in the habit of entertaining us while grabbing their sunflower seeds.
Over the past week, a few of the little birds have been finding their way into the new greenhouse.
The problem is they can figure out how to get in through the open area on the floor but haven't a clue on how to get out.
So, each time, I've had to go inside and help direct them out an open door.
Spent some time in the kitchen yesterday, preparing plum juice for jelly making today.
Bill and I also enjoyed fresh-baked quiche and salad from garden goodies last night.
Yesterday afternoon we also sat back and enjoyed most of the concert in Central Park until the event for 60,000 vaccinated concert goers suddenly ended because of lightning strikes in the area.
I loved watching the lady conductor and listening to the phenomenal New York Philharmonic Orchestra playing all that classic New York music.
Andrea Bocelli and Jennifer Hudson were amazing, as always.
Too bad we missed a few other musical giants because of weather.
In other news, last night while checking out my vine plants, I discovered two small cantaloupe hiding under leaves.
My cantaloupe plant is filled with hundreds of blossoms, but until yesterday, daily inspections suggested that it would be a good year for pretty yellow blossoms but not the fruit.
So, last night's discovery brought on some great expectations----if the little teeth that seem to have been busy the past week or so snipping off potato tops and vines will give me some mercy.
As usual, the doggies put on their entertaining faux dog fight in the front yard.
With the fair over, this morning, I'll go over to the fairgrounds to help with takedown of the Arabian club booth.
Then, some jelly making but generally, it should be another laid-back, relaxing day.
I'll leave you with a rather interesting article portraying the murkiness and frustration of navigating through the present Pandemic times.

Happy Sunday. Stay safe.
Nasty bees have settled down over the past two or three days but have not yet left the country. |
With luck, maybe we'll get a taste of homegrown cantaloupe. |
