Monday Miscellany

Lily is not nearly as mad as she may appear in this photo.

On the contrary, she's in Horse Heaven.

Once more, the horses have been moved into some fresh, tall grass.

Most likely Lily's ears are back because she concentrating on getting some good bites of that grass.

The horses moved to a new portion of the "electric fence" pasture today, and they should have an enjoyable few hours of feasting.

At long last, or at least we think that we have finally reached a point where the posies and young plants can go outside and maybe even some into the ground.

Night temps are in the 40s for the next week, so the garden goodies should be safe.

One of my major projects this week is to move flowers and some veggie starts to the gardens and the pots.

And, then Gardening 2022 should be full speed ahead.

Three weeks ago I started mentioning that maybe we'd be eating asparagus in a few days.

Still hasn't happened.  Maybe this week.

Seems everything is stalled, thanks to all the cold weather and rain.

Yesterday Bill and I joined a few other friends and family at an Emerald Empire Arabian Club meeting at Farragut State Park.

The area was buzzing with all kinds of activities.

Twas Memory Lane for Bill and me since we met at Farragut almost 49 years ago at a Boy Scout Jamboree.

The "summer romance," as my mother termed it, bloomed and lasted with us getting married the following year.

We have both spent more than our share of time at the Park, writing stories, biking, hiking, watching eagles, kayaking----you name it.

The place is definitely one of the all-around jewels of the Idaho Panhandle.

The promise with the meeting/picnic was that it was gonna be a nice day.  Well, just to remind us and to keep us humble, the skies opened with rain as we pulled into the picnic area.  Fortunately, the tables sat under a roof.

The rain didn't hang around long, and the rest of the afternoon was pleasant, complete with the meeting, the eating and lots of visiting.

A good time was had by all, even the dogs.

We're all excited for Annie this week.  If all goes well (the necessary qualifier for the world we live in), she will be boarding a plane and visiting some overseas countries for the first time.

Miss World Traveler is headed to Norway for some work-related activities, even spending time above the Arctic Circle and visiting Finland and Sweden.

It will be fun to follow her travels and such a great adventure for her.

Happy Travels, Annie.

And, Happy Monday to all.

Lots of stunningly beautiful and fragrant Oregon grape surrounded our picnic area.

Vicki Webb Lowell, a former student and daughter of my first hairdresser, has been spending the past couple of years working in Iraq for the U.S. government.

Twas fun to hear her tell of her experiences.
