The first school bus of the year passed by our driveway around 6:35 this morning.
So, it's official.
School is starting today in Lake Pend Oreille School District 84.
I read on Facebook this morning that frosh at Sandpoint High School will stay on campus during noon hour, while students in the upper grades can leave for the break.
New principals in some schools and a new superintendent will certainly determine the atmosphere and expectations at our local schools.
As will the classroom teachers---be they veterans or newbies.
Soon, the trends for this year's learning and regular school events will take shape.
Wishing the best of luck to all of the above as well as students and support staff.
Today seems like a perfect first day of school, with a little nip in the air and the sun shining brightly.
Last night we attended the Labor Day barbecue, hosted by Willie and Debbie.
We were invited by Kenny Love, the new pup on the block, pictured above.
Who could turn down such an invitation from such a cutie?
Kenny kept us entertained throughout, chasing off cats, looking for food dribbles and just plain being adorable in his blue collar.
The little guy collapsed to the ground several times, then rolled back and forth, trying his darndest to reach for that blue collar, in hopes of figuring out how he could remove it.
He wasn't so thrilled with the collar, but we thought he looked mighty handsome, even if it does belong to Pepper, the resident kitty at the Love Shack.
The barbecue provided a nice final hurrah to summer vacation time. As I type, Willie aka Mr. Love is probably in his classroom, ready to greet this year's crop of new students.
And, so another school year begins, and during a week of seemingly lovely fall days with temps ranging from the 40s to the mid-70s to low 80s.
Can't beat that.
I'm hoping, now that it's cooler and the hectic go-go-go of the past month has died down, to climb on a horse and to embrace all that a beautiful fall in North Idaho offers.
Plus, I told Willie and Debbie that I'd be a good grandma and occasionally check in on Kenny and maybe take him for a walk.
Good times ahead along with processing some fruit, eating some homegrown juicy tomatoes and tasty cukes, playing with doggies and horses and maybe taking some back woods drives in the mountains.
Love it all.
Happy Tuesday.
