When It Rains . . . .

When it rains in the dusty, dirty fall, the world becomes gloriously beautiful again.

It felt downright uplifting and awesome to walk around the place yesterday afternoon and admire the handiwork of nature's raindrops.

Flowers and shrubs that had looked pathetic and ready to give up the ship just minutes earlier had seemingly come come alive in a heavenly way, showing off all their attributes after rain washed away the heavy coatings of dirt.

So, when it rains AND pours, good things do happen.

And, speaking of good things happening, here's a community that could write a fascinating and inspiring  tale of "how I spent my summer."

Hats off once again to the Priest River community.

We all know the old saying "it ain't over 'til it's over, " but these folks seem to be making some dramatic headway in saving West Bonner County School District.

With the community spirit, teamwork and leadership they've displayed, they will surely overcome any unforeseen obstacles ahead.

Finally, "when it rains, it pours" does have a figurative connotation for me this morning.

1. The lawnmower that had been fixed a few days ago has a new problem.

2.  My iPhone charging cable started acting up last night.  Anyone who travels these days knows how vital those cords and cables and gizmos are.

3. Yesterday afternoon CB stuck his head between a gate and its post and ripped a piece of hide off the side of his face.

4. Bridie's claw problem that we thought was healing was bleeding this morning.

So, two vet visits, a new charging cable and another necessary lawnmower fix in less than 24 hours.

Not exactly what we needed just hours away from leaving. Bill and I were remarking yesterday about the calm and stress-free preparation actually making us nervous.

Hopefully, all will work itself out before day is done.

So, it rained, and it poured and literally made things beautiful outside.

And, it rained and it poured and figuratively disordered an otherwise calm pathway to departure.

Life:  a bowl of lemons and cherries!

Happy Wednesday.  Enjoy the pictures.
