Saturday Slight

We don't know if it's a "he" or a "she."

But it's mighty pretty for a stray.

This cat, which has been hanging around the peripheral of the place for the past couple of years, has decided to make the Lovestead its home base.

I've seen it in the barn a couple of times.  Other sightings have included the deck, the front yard, the lawn along the first pasture and, most recently atop the bird house inside the garden fence.

The cat doesn't seem really scared, but it usually trots off if I get too close and streaks off if Bridie spots it.

I am truly amazed at how healthy it looks for the wandering life it leads.

Anyway, that cat is a pretty sight, and we're seeing it more often all the time.

This week has also been entertaining with the stellar jay that must have decided to hang around.  We saw it a couple of times before we left.

Since our return, we've seen the bird at least a couple of times a day at the bird feeders and squawking away in the service berry bush.

I've thrown out peanuts, and the bird responds quickly, grabbing a peanut and then going off to the southern lawn to eat it.

So, it's been kinda fun this week with the cat and bird.  Both are beautiful,  and we're hoping to see more of them as time goes by.

We had a good time at Annie's Hydra birthday dinner last night and then came home for gift unwrapping and some dessert.

BTW:  the frightful looking cake is very tasty.

If there's such a thing as a dog whisperer, Debbie could be one.  Dogs always gravitate to her.  Bridie's not exactly a lap dog, but Debbie doesn't care.

Below:  my sisters' cat Nattie.  Nattie was out in the field when I drove by yesterday.

Nattie's owners are continuing with their Arabian National horse show classes in Tulsa.

Today, Barbara, after finishing in the preliminary top ten yesterday, rides in the finals for the English trail class, and Laurie will ride Dusty tonight in a Western Horsemanship preliminary.

Good luck, Ladies.

This morning, my niece Laura will come.  She and Annie will head out on a hike and maybe some fishing.  We'll all get together for burgers tonight and then see if we've got the stamina to watch a 3.5 hour movie.

It should be a fun day for all.

Happy Saturday.

Everyone, it seems, is doing their best to enjoy every last minute of the glorious fall.

Winter is long, so it's good to take in all the beauty possible, as these neighborhood folks were doing yesterday.

I think it is a sure bet that YOU will not stay awake for a 3 1/2 hour movie! No way!
