It's muddy-pant leg weather IN DECEMBER on the first full day of WINTER.
Yup, I don't know how many places I visited in town yesterday with big splotches of mud adorning the backs of my pant legs.
Often, it's not 'til later that you realize that every time you walked away, folks got to see those unsightly additions to your jeans.
We're getting some rain today and warm temperatures, so I'm sure muddy-pant leg weather is here to stay for a while.
All that said, I'd much rather go squish squash and stay upright in the mud than go slipping, sliding and splat on the ice.
So, I'll put out the effort to lift those old legs far away from the runner of the car when I get in and get out.
Yesterday, I finally completed the long list of "to do's" for this Christmas. Now, comes the seasonal fun of relaxing and celebrating and visiting and eating and eventually opening gifts.
Willie's last day of school is today. He gets to relax "sorta" for three days before taking off on a long basketball trip to Southern Idaho where the team will play in a tournament.
I'm sure he's exhausted this morning but more than thrilled with his team and their amazing comeback last night in Moscow.

ICCU Arena
The Idaho Central Credit Union Arena, a
state-of-the-art sports and entertainment venue in Moscow, Idaho, is
home to the Vandal men’s and women’s basketball teams, and a gathering
place for academic events and concerts.
Completed in October 2021, the Idaho Central Credit Union Arena is one
of the most unique architectural features in the entire country among
college basketball facilities.
The newly constructed 4,200-capacity arena is placed on the north side
of the P1FCU Kibbie Dome, increasing recruiting efforts, fan engagement,
and improving the residential campus environment for all students,
faculty/staff and the university community.
The 67,000 square feet
facility features a performance basketball court, a practice court,
coaches' offices, locker rooms, and a club area for premium seating and
hospitality.
The Idaho Central Credit Union Arena is a showpiece for U of I’s
student-athletes, tells the story of Idaho’s heritage and provides a
unique gathering place for generations of Vandals to come.
The ICCU
Arena highlights the special connections to the Inland Northwest. It was
built using wood harvested from public and private forests in and
around Moscow, including the U of I Experimental Forest.

It's basketball on the mind today in our family as Bill and Annie will drive into Spokane to watch the Gonzaga women (12-2) take on a strong New Mexico Lobos (9-3) team.
GO, ZAGS!
I borrowed a couple of amazing images from Facebook today.
Kim Tompkins from England posted the above photo of the hitch.
I interviewed Kim and wrote a feature about her several years ago for the Appaloosa Journal.
I can fully understand why this photo appealed to her.
The heart-warming painting below appeared on the iHeart Border Collies group page.
Nice to have access to these images to make our day.
Happy Friday to all.
