Out and About; TBT

We've reached one of those days where we know for certain some change will occur.

Today is short; tomorrow will be longer.

And, we can enjoy the ride for the next six months while once again moving toward the longest day of the year.

In a world where there aren't too many absolutes besides death and taxes, it's nice to know that we can count on the universe to keep us on some sort of  schedule.

So tomorrow when I get up, I'll purposely inflict a little more bounce into my step cuz I know we'll be experiencing a little more natural light.

Yesterday, I decided to get out of the house and go enjoy some nature.

One of my favorite places to visit is McArthur Lake.  It's not too far up the road.  I chose highway driving because the dirt roads are currently bumpy and muddy.

McArthur Lake this time of the year is often a quiet, serene spot next to the highway except for drivers coming in for a pit stop at the facility.

With all the holiday lists of indoor activities, my little afternoon break and time spent in the beauty of nature provided a welcome diversion.

Any time  we can enjoy in nature is therapeutic and revitalizing as we observe the wonders around us while breathing in fresh clean air.

In yesterday's case, I observed various-sized chunks of ice on the lake and, in the surrounding foliage, shiny holly still wet from the rain or melted snow.

Of course, the cattails and reeds near the shore or sometimes just plain jutting out of the lake are always a winter staple when we want so badly to see something beside dull landscape.

There's not much snow on the ground and in some spots brilliant green grass added dramatically to the winter beauty.

I enjoyed this break from indoor sports and chores and am looking forward to spending more time outside as the days get longer.

Yay!

Happy Thursday.

Enjoy the photos and the thowbacks.

Thursday Throwbacks . . . . just assorteds from my photo library.
