Sweetness in Seattle

If you want a good chocolate chip cookie dressed with a little sea salt, go to Mince Market in downtown Dupont, Wash.

That's where my grand niece Iusitina aka Iussie works, and she bakes a great cookie.

We had a chance to see her briefly yesterday and enjoyed a wonderful visit and lunch with her grandparents (my brother Mike and sister-in-law Mary).

Dupont is south of Seattle right next to Fort Lewis.

We spent the afternoon there and the evening enjoying another big sporting event--this time at Lumen Field where the Sounders were trounced by a tough Los Angeles MLS team.

Twas the same score as we'd seen the night before when Seattle lost to Houston in an MLB game 3-0.

Bill and I figured we brought bad luck to the Seattle teams, but that didn't diminish the fabulous and "sweet" time we spent with our daughter Annie.

To honor several occasions--birthdays, Mother's and Father's Day and a significant anniversary, Annie treated us to both games, and we thoroughly enjoyed everything but the scores.

It's been an amazing weekend, topped off by a very special gesture extended to us by the staff at our Hotel Nexus.

To any of you staff members who read this, we were blown away by the beautiful surprise that greeted us in our room when we walked through the door at almost midnight last night.

Contrary to what we hear far too often about the behavior in this world, there are many many thoughtful human beings continuously extending unforgettable gestures of good will and generosity toward others.

Bill and I were the recipients of such an act last night.

We were blown away with a gorgeous bouquet of flowers, some celebratory balloons and the makings of a very special toast, which we shall enjoy when we arrive home later today.

Thanks seems hardly enough, but that's how I'll leave it because we need to get on the road.

Our beloveds are waiting for us and we can't wait to see them.  Thanks to all who watched them, allowing us to have this wonderful weekend getaway.

And, special thanks to all in the Seattle area who made this weekend so memorable.  Bill and I are blessed.

Happy Sunday, and if you're near Dupont, go sample one of Iussie's cookies.
