Saturday Slight

It's the last day of August.

We've started the holiday weekend.

The sun is shining.

The local football team won their second straight game last night, and the grandson of one of my dear friend's made a touchdown last night.

Bill just yelled up to me, "Do you know who the best educator is?"  He was referring information in the latest Bests of Bonner County which came with the paper this morning.

"Who?" I responded.

"Will Love."

WOW!  Ma and Pa Love are proud.

In other news, I just sampled another slice of homemade artisan bread, brought to me by my neighbor who is celebrating life after a bout with cancer.

Talk about yum, yum, and I'm still thinking about the wonderful visit we had mostly on the deck yesterday afternoon.

She walked about a quarter mile to our house, with the bag of bread in hand, and what a great sight that was after all she's gone through.

One resilient and inspiring lady and a baker of good bread!

Eventually, the bees sent us inside where we visited some more before she walked back home. Later, I had my first sample of bread with some melted margarine.

Meanwhile, over in Spain, Annie took a day off from walking in exchange for some geocaching and hanging out at her hotel.

She's writing just as I am right now and will soon publish.

It seems that our kids have both spent a good share of their time in the communications business.  That makes me happy.

One day while I was putting my blog together, Annie was doing hers in Spain and Willie was on the local radio station talking sports with our local sports reporter-----all at the same time.

I learned much too late this summer that Willie was on that station every Friday morning doing North Idaho News.

That has ended because of the new school year, but he also continues to do his almost weekly podcasts interviewing basketball experts about strategies for coaching.

Years ago, while attending Boise State University, Willie and Annie hosted their own radio show called Ten9.

Their focus was featuring music they liked along with conducting some interviews. As I recall, they had a lot of fun with the show.

This was their logo, which has been pasted to my printer for years.  Some may recognize the Bat Waves item above the logo. Used be Bat Waves stickers all over town as the Sanborn boys promoted their brand.

Learn more about the brand in the link below.  Maybe Josh, who now lives in Alaska, will update me on what's happening these days.

I was planning to keep today's post short because of the holiday weekend and because this day's posting is called "Saturday Slight."

Plus, I've posted links for you to read.

So, to maintain my integrity, I'll call it good and wish everyone a wonderful day.

Happy Saturday.
