Family, Friends, Fine Horses and Fun

I don't know if---as little girls playing with horses on our North Boyer farm---my younger sisters Barbara and Laurie dreamed that their lifelong passion would ever reach this level, but, by golly, it has.

National and Regional championships galore, a barn filled with beautiful horses, and, yesterday, a lifetime's worth of family and friends who've watched and cheered for the sisters along the way.

They held a party in their indoor arena yesterday.   A nice crowd with locals and some from around the region as well as several of their teaching colleagues came to help them celebrate three of their horses which, over the past few years, have distinguished themselves in various disciplines and a host of show rings.

Pache, Dusty and Siri, all orginally from Ravenwood Arabians in Ronan, Mont., enjoyed both the spotlight and having their registered names on a half-carrot and half-chocolate sheet cake.

The program involved a lot of visiting, some cake eating and short exhibitions with each of the three horses, highlighting their individual talents and some of the skills that helped them become stars in the show rings.

And, yes, many visitors even had their photos taken with a frame promoting the Arabian breed and the Tibbs Arabians.

The crowd ranged from young'uns a few months old to a couple of friends who've gone around the sun 88 times. One (Jean) is a month older than the other (Lois), and they've known each other all their lives.

I don't know how three hours could have been more fun, and I'm thinking most of the people who came would agree.

In short, a good time was had by all, and, I'm sure most folks left with great admiration for a couple of horse women/sisters who've come along way since the days when "you hold it, I'll ride it" ruled much of their childhood fun.

It's safe to say that Barbara and Laurie Tibbs have truly arrived in the horse world.

Happy Sunday.  Enjoy the photos.

Pache, recent winner of two National Championships, a reserve national championship, first place in a large exhibition class and Top Ten in a dressage class.

Laurie rode him in Western Dressage at last month's Arabian Sport Horse Nationals in Ohio.
