Thursday Mutterings

My friends Tom and Joanne get to look at this scene every day.

This year Joanne has embarked on some barn quilt projects, making their adorable, well-kept little farm all the more adorable.

I think they would get along fine in Ireland where tidiness is a national commodity.

Don't tell Foster, but his best friend in the world is coming home today.

He'll be a happy dog once Annie walks through the door this evening.

He hasn't seen her since August.

The little guy will spend every possible moment with her while she's home.

We're planning to celebrate Annie's birthday this weekend.  It was last weekend, but we'll get to extend it with some birthday cake and dinner with family.

I drove through a neighborhood in town last weekend which has some amazing Halloween displays.

Here at the Lovestead, a row of little pumpkins lines the garage door.

That's all.

We do have candy for the big day.

Yesterday I asked the mom of two kids from our two batches of trick-or-treaters who came last year if they would be coming this year.

She didn't give much hope because they're now in high school and have wrestling activities.

It's always a crap shoot wondering how many visitors we'll have, but we'll be ready.

I went to visit my horses yesterday.  With so much yard work to do, it's been hard to find time to squeeze in a visit.

So, after finishing my daily leaf pickup project, I headed over to Roxane's and spent a little while just visiting with horses and peeps.

While Lefty and Lily were fairly unconcerned about my presence, CB turned out to be my velcro friend, rearranging my hat, sniffing my body and shadowing my every move.

It's nice to have unconditional love from a horse friend.

I may bake some bread today because it's International Bake Bread for Peace Day.

It's an Irish-influenced custom that began in 2014.

The story of how it evolved from one Irish lady in County Donegal desiring to promote peace through baking is included in the link below.

I don't plan to coordinate an event since I just heard about Bake Bread for Peace Day yesterday, but it sounds like the concept is growing into a neat movement.

If time allows, I'll simply bake some bread and try to concentrate on peaceful thoughts.  That will mean turning off the TV.

Peace is elusive, but if baking bread helps some peace happen, that's a pretty tasty way to do so.

Thursday Throwbacks from my photo library.

Our Hereford bull Milford with my dad Harold.

Milford was a star in the history of our Hereford cattle, mainly because my brother liked to ride him and Milford didn't mine one bit.

It was hard to fall off from Milford because his back was so broad.

SOON!  😍
