My friend Simon works at Yoke's in Ponderay, seemingly doing a little bit of everything in the grocery store.
The other day, when I was shopping and talking to a friend, Simon approached me and asked if I'd seen his winter forecast.
On the side, Simon devotes a good amount of his time to studying weather patterns and predicting the weather for North Idaho and Northwest Montana.
Weather is Simon's passion.
If you study the link above, you'll see that he has devoted much of his adult life to studying weather, especially in the West.
And, so he has come up with a forecast for the winter of 2024-'25. See link below.
He's quick to point out that when you hear that it's going to be an El Nino or La Nina winter, that general pattern won't necessarily hold true in all parts of the region.
Other factors play in to why one place gets a snow dump while a few miles away nothing happens.
So, check out his prediction, and if you want to compare what Simon thinks about upcoming weather with what you hear on TV, bookmark the site, and follow his predictions for upcoming weeks.

Judy Chronic Dabrowski, Mike Rosenberger, Susan Stark Tate, Karen Martin Rolf, Mike Parkins, Jim Holt and Marianne Love: proud members of the Sandpoint High Class of 1965.
While walking toward the door to leave the house yesterday, I told Bill that I had no idea how many would show up at our first meeting to plan next year's SHS Class of 1965 reunion.
"Well, some may be at doctor's appointments and others may be in therapy," he said, to which I added, "and one may be running to the bathroom."
Once I had arrived at Powderhound Pizza, my partner in crime through our past five reunions came through the door.
Our core team from over the years has been reduced due to attrition aka death.
And, so I advised everyone at the table that they'd better not die before next September or they were gonna be in a lotta trouble.
For some reason---and I'm still scratching my head as to why---dark humor seems to prevail as we get on up there in years with our planning of events.
Anyway, we had a good group for starters.
We gabbed a lot, compared individual medical stories and arrived at a one-day date for our reunion next September, with plans to add another day if we think we can muster up the energy to plan it.
That will be decided at our next meeting. Actually, yesterday's gathering was as fun as all other reunion meetings among the locals have been.
I have a feeling we'll have a lot more fun getting together again to do the planning and the logistics---as long as we all stay alive.
😂😏💪💪😀

During the meeting a young lady (hardly our age) walked by and said my name out loud.
I hadn't seen Loretta in years and, at first, did not recognize her with her hair in a bun.
But quickly, the familiarity came back as did the memories of having her as a senior at Sandpoint High School.
Loretta went on into education and now works as a principal in the Priest River area.
Don't forget the Sandpoint High girls basketball fundraiser tonight at Sweet Lou's.
Coaching staff and team members will be taking over the restaurant and serving you.
Should be tasty and fun.

I believe strongly in the Open Primary Proposition because I am an independent-minded voter who doesn't want to have to be locked out of my full voting opportunity in primary elections.
I encourage you to examine this issue closely and to vote FOR Proposition 1.
Think of a time when you can all once again vote for the person and not the party in Idaho.
Thank you.
